The PIANTA-STORIE project was created for young people and with young people with the intention of enhancing their potential in order to include them in the socio-collective context in order to promote teamwork with capacity-building logics, foster political dialogue and learning about sustainability issues by incentivizing society itself to act as an ethical engine - giving a new face to the territory.
The PIANTA-STORIE project was designed in four interconnected and preparatory phases to arrive at project implementation in a proactive way, distinguishing
PHASE1: Training with a cycle of five workshops with five specific FOCUSes, HAVING AS TEACHERS THE MUNICIPAL COUNCILORS AND EXPERTS
FOCUS1 Gender Equity: Gender equality and social inclusion.
FOCUS2 Safety: Behavioral system, approaches in the work environment.
FOCUS3 Sustainability: ESG... everything you need to know.
FOCUS4 Communication: Writing inclusively. Models and tools.
FOCUS5 Environment: Waste management. Modalities and compliance.
PHASE2: From theory to practice:
- PRACTICAL ACTIVITY 1: Redevelopment of the Colonne's Park
- PRACTICAL ACTIVITY 2: Tree planting workshop THE TWO OLIVES .
- PRACTICAL ACTIVITY 3: Planting of American jungle vines for camouflage (redevelopment) of the variant retaining wall.

In 1987, the United Nations Commission on Environment and Development defined sustainability as: "a condition of a development capable of ensuring the satisfaction of the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to realize their own."From HERE began the design and implementation of PIANTA-STORIE with the aim of sharing with the population and young people especially, the critical issues related to the preservation of the environment and rural spaces,to learn to be inspired by what surrounds us and integrate with corrective actions the shortcomings highlighted. The city of Salerno as a result of numerous fires has suffered territorial depletion, a factor that triggered and inspired the project. Our statement: can we make sure that green does not remain just a memory? It is fundamental to bring together good land management practices with the population that lives on the land. This connection between territory and population is often not easy to implement because it requires considering several factors such as: habits of a community, knowledge on a specific issue, respect for people and the environment around us. Factors that seem to be taken for granted but instead can lead to attitudes contrary to the common good if action is not taken through education, awareness, practice, reflection, and rethinking our society by also proposing different models of territorial/local cooperation. Pianta-storie proposes itself as a glue by intervening directly on places in need of improvement through collaboration with associations and organizations re-interpreting the public space of our cities to read, interpret and rewrite its spaces, identity and collective functions.Embedded in a constantly changing context sometimes as catastrophic as fire, and as dynamic as the city fabric, PIANTA-STORIE transforms urban space into a meeting place by converting negative factors with positive ones by returning citizens of all ages to the origin.
The PIANTA-STORIE project identifies useful phases to highlight how good practices of can accelerate those internal and subjective processes related to emotions experienced both as individuals and with within experience groups. The phases differentiated from each other made it possible to make the competence-emotion transition effective and to address after STAGE 1 of awareness the actual experience. The design of the project composed in this way allowed us to facilitate the creativity with which to deal with the challenges, going to identify different dimensions of approach by adapting the knowledge taken up in the classrooms to the emotion linked to the objectives of the practical experiences, clear and defined objectives so as to create in the environment and after the intervention of the human being, a new dimension, which before had been destroyed always at the hands of the human being but which is then restored in an improving key. The experiences described in the hands-on workshops of STEPS 2 and 3, enabled the groups to coordinate with each other, identify roles, give each other tasks, thus improve tolerance toward others, address discourses involved by similar human issues and values, increasing the process of self-awareness and improving the perception of ourselves as a result of positive actions that directly affect society and the environment itself, which is reviewed in its transition from destruction to degradation to its natural return. PIANTA-STORIE combines social design with people's direct emotion, aimed at the encounter with the environment, which becomes authentic as we realize how humans can change for better or worse the environment around them, depending also on the culture itself that surrounds them. People need to be able to create personal and authentic ways to deal with life's challenges, including the challenge of sustainability.
Support to support, this is the key to achieving the goals of this human and social project. The democratic involvement of the actors made it possible to understand how relevant the value of action on the territory is, how indispensable it is to give and offer trust to the territory with the aim of making it a pleasant and safe dimension not only for the young but also for the elderly, especially with a view to sharing spaces. Institutions can increase the effectiveness of outcomes if, as a result of these cooperative projects, new ways of learning, new ways of being together, new ways of setting goals together are born. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) depend on actions on the ground, and the strengthening of the network between associations, multipurpose centers and schools has given rise in the city of Salerno to an absolutely virtuous model because it is co-participated. Objectives of an ecological-environmental nature have made it possible to recover neglected areas, through redevelopment interventions make them once again usable to the population, restore an environmental balance, restore play areas for children have improved the city in several places even if in this emerges the active role of people as active citizens giving the territory its centrality and proposing towards young people models of participatory cooperation fruit of the work of dissemination and awareness carried out previously by teachers, which has strengthened the conviction to propose themselves as positive models for society. As it has been structured, this type of involvement can be replicated for any city where there is a desire to improve environmental impact and pollution in addition to having a clear understanding of the social dynamics that can lead people to be indifferent to what is a "common" good.It will be sufficient to map the objectives, the schools to be involved, identify emergencies to work on together and involve local associations and institutions by dialogue.
The project involved schools, associations, multipurpose centers who in collaboration with teachers involved for implementation of the five orientation seminars for PHASE 1, assigning to local volunteer groups present, the external practical and laboratory activities, calling and intercepting the Salerno's community present in all four phases of the PIANTA-STORIE project,pro-actively involved in each phase, from implementation of the workshops, promotion of the project to the citizenship, through the concrete help to the students of the specific activities scheduled with practical actions such as cleaning shorelines, planting and greening abandoned areas, cleaning public spaces and creating native vegetable gardens.Participating school expose increased environmental awareness and improved sustainability practices in schools and private homes as well as in rural areas adjacent to the city to spread the inclusion of topics related to environmental science, issues such as pollution, environmental degradation, relationships between organisms, environmental degradation, relationships between organisms, biodiversity and resource conservation. The actions lived through the experiences allowed for bridging between the various actors who participated proactively but especially for the youth in particular to master and be much more confident with the topics addressed in the five key words such as SUSTAINABILITY,COOPERATION,SAFETY,GENDER EQUITY,ENVIRONMENT and to see how knowledge and even physical engagement with the sustainability of the environment and society starts from specific literacy, from the revision of local school curricula on topic, the approach of involvement on the inhabitants in a direct and widespread way with the preparation of materials such as posters, exhibition brochures, moments created by municipal institutions to present the project stages spread throughout the city, direct, constant dialogue constant dialogue with teacher, professor, parents, students.
Different stakeholders at various local, regional, and national levels were involved for all four identified project phases, with the aim of empowering young people to independently manage the goals to be achieved. A referral association PIANTA-STORIE composed only of young boys and girls was founded, with the twofold attempt to enable the boys to leave the condition of digital isolation experienced during the pandemic period by promoting encounters among peers in spaces suitable for distancing, but welcoming, and to take their first steps into the civilian world. It was, therefore, asked the network of entrepreneurs, banks, and institutions with whom diellemme deals daily to participate in the project as operating partners, investing their executives' time in conducting seminars during which they explained to the boys the steps to be taken to establish an association and carry out urban redevelopment projects. The youngsters were thus able to learn what functions the revenue agency has, how to go about opening an association, how to write an association statute, what offices to consider and the associated legal responsibilities, how to open a bank account, how to apply for the entrustment of urban areas in which to concretize their projects, what the tools are for planning, and how to apply for funds and financing. On the premises of diellemme municipal aldermen, bankers, funding experts, architects, engineers, environmental associations, associations against gender violence, and communication experts took turns Before each practical activity, the students met with experts the partners were the City of Salerno, Piantastorie's Association, the Lions Club, Plasticfree's national Association, diellemme, "Mamma in rete", Association SAVE THE WOMAN, The Girasole'S polyfunctional center.
Italy in 2017 approved National Strategy for Sustainable Development (NSSD) and is the coordinating tool for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The SNSvS is structured into five areas, corresponding to the so-called "5Ps" of sustainable development proposed by the 2030 Agenda: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership. Based on this criterion, the PIANTA-STORIE project organized the general training by parts of Global Approach to Human Development, Environmental Education, Citizenship and Human Rights Education, Health Promotion, Gender Equality Promotion, Economic Education, Sustainability and Environmental Protection. The direct confrontation between children, classmates, families, citizenship and institutions set up the confrontation between the opportunities of collective choices the daily living combined. Being proactive also means defining responsibilities, keeping commitments made, making decisions, creating goals that are measurable over time, in actions performed, and in replicability. Aspects of responsibility to nature were taken care of by learning about its limits in relation to human activities, as well as the consequences of these activities on individual and collective well-being. Sustainable development was central because it determined its conduct on group activities by going deeper into land management, the links between urban interaction (dependence, territorial interdependence), social interaction situations (inclusion, exclusion), and value horizon (equity, sustainability). The project followed two dimensions of competencies: general ones related to macro-themes such as environment, economy and society, and then deepened through transversal competencies the global goals of reference such as circular economy, gender equality, social welfare.
Education for Sustainable Development is a fundamental tool to strengthen the resilience of/of young people in complex situations and to support their vision of the future and stimulate learning that contributes to the ability of young people to deal with the complexity of the present and to encourage and support their active involvement in societies. The results achieved have concerned: the improvement of school curricula and although with provision in the educational program of volunteer actions, citizenship actions carried out by students that concretely serve the territory and decided together with institutions and stakeholders of territory with constant dialogue, increase in youth activism that includes both males and females this to generate also in girls a maturation with respect to their future role as women, projected also in society and not only in the dimension of family care. Aggregation moments alternating with educational moments were provided to enhance reflection and growth, encouraging the emergence of new ideas and continuity of actions by stimulating youth and families and institutions to constant attention to issues. A total of sixty hours of face-to-face lectures were completed, six Laboratory activities, three trees donated for project against gender violence for The Girasole'S polyfunctional centerin order to restore green area for children from mum victims of violence, one hundred American's vines plants donated to the municipality of Giungano (SA) for re-development and planting and securing the park, a one retaining wall of the municipal variant upgraded with cleaning, three hundred plants donated for Redevelopment and planting in a park. The relationship with institutions and associations in the area was optimized, bringing great value to the community of Salerno, which appreciated the initiatives by returning to stand in previously de-qualified areas. The impact was virtuous for the area and for the citizen, which welcomed the actions taken.
The innovative aspects of this project are to be found in the long term. We thought of innovating "the person" through the composition of different activities with different approaches to determine the ultimate goal of improving leadership in the people who participated, without excluding anyone but not particular vocation on young people. It is the complexities of our societies that show us how crucial it is to innovate within our territories, but it is also true that we need to consider the real difficulties of a territory, identify what the practical needs are, draw up a list of interventions based on a strategy of actions. The approach used aims to work on collective consciousness and on broadening the value of cooperation among partners who are also very different from each other in terms of age, gender, life experience, mentality, culture, and this determines for better or for worse a series of reflections that need to be considered when approaching this type of hybrid design. It is not just a project for students, it is not just for families, but it is an aggregation of actors and actresses who cooperate with each other by bringing together the best parts acquired over time and in the places where the awareness, the depth of observation of the environment could take place. Different professionals such as nurserymen, lawyers, businessmen and businesswomen were encouraged to cooperate together on the basis created through the phases proper to this project. Aspects of cooperation referring to the diversity of people, their vital purposes, their desires, and their coexistence vis-à-vis society were fostered. The vision of being entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs with a valuable purpose was reinterpreted to determine impacts on the territory by enhancing the business philosophy through concrete actions. The replicability of the project that can be transferred to all contexts with the same mode of interaction was enhanced.
The methodology used is participatory and cooperative. Key stakeholders in institutions and partnerships were identified and then specific roles were identified with respect to actual responsibilities such as that of opening an association independently, seeking collaborations, funds, conveying enthusiasm, and field managers were identified to act as liaisons between the various actors in the process, precisely to establish an inclusive dialogue within each project phase leading to the experience as such. The preparatory phases served to identify an issue, to reflect on the potential solution by identifying the relevant solution in the territory itself, implying the call for help and support from the territory once the analyses were done. Simultaneous involvement of all project stakeholders was also encouraged in order to identify real and feasible solutions together, enhancing the skills and potential of each even where the situation was not conducive to this type of approach. STEPS 2 and 3 represent the acquisition of operational skills, sensitivity about decisions, group management, and tolerance. The lectures were organized to cover the entire course and, in particular, a theoretical lecture on the subject was given before each practical activity. The methodology chosen to prepare the project phases was based on Kolb's theory, which includes four specific phases: Concrete Experience, Reflective Observation, Abstract Conceptualization (which we transformed into practical conceptualization), and Active Experimentation. For all actors, it was possible to tap into the potential of learning related to lived experience, with the aim of fostering creativity, evaluating one's mistakes, and reflecting on the responsibility choices made. Discussion was then encouraged to establish role-plays, choose the person in charge of outdoor laboratory activities by increasing creativity and exploration
The PIANTA-STORIE project can be replicated in all its phases, transferred both in Italy and abroad. It is set up to work on general and transversal skills, respecting the policies of the Global Goals.Lessons and seminars are made to be repeatable in basic concepts and, alternatively, structured to represent the critical issue or topic we want to focus on.Identifying steps for approaching these issues and then making them viable with sustainable workshops for the community of the place to which they belong has been crucial, as well as identifying the geographical characteristics of the place, social traits, obvious issues where they result, and mapping the institutions present and specific associations and/or organizations. The idea of transferring concrete planning to young people makes us strong and aware in saying that replicability becomes the winning point of this project, considering also the positive effects had downstream of the experiences completed. It could be replicated in speakers, in collaboration with communities that serve as aggregators such as the Erasmus's Community. We are collaborating with two students from the Azores, to draft a project that could also include study vacations for young people, eco-sustainable where it is possible to identify a weekly program based on sustainable culture and direct experiences in the area. The goal of diellemme is to help keep the attention on these issues high, creating a constancy also in the relationships between the different stakeholders, where we go beyond the level of awareness by replacing it with awareness and then later with virtuous behaviors. Going step by step reduces the possibility that a virtuous action taken will remain isolated and not be replicated. The same project can be declined depending on the school level considered by going to identify more or less complex concepts and workshops depending on the age group by imagining well the objectives that can be achieved according to the different age.
The project addresses several global challenges by considering important issues such as education, realizing a peaceful society, creating resilient infrastructure and areas that are able to support change, making cities more inclusive to open with local needs to restore specific areas of the city that have suffered degradation or needed specific redevelopment identified through needs mapped locally with the associations present and going to define what urgently could be achieved to normalize an environment or situation. diellemme ltd, supports more specifically Goal 4 to provide quality, equitable and inclusive education and learning opportunities for all, Goal 5 to Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, Goal 8 to Incentivize economic, lasting, inclusive and sustainable growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, Goal 9 to Build a resilient infrastructure and promote innovation and equitable, responsible and sustainable industrialization, Goal 11 to Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, durable and sustainable, Goal 14 to Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. The definition of the goals from which to draw inspiration allowed us to direct the structure of the project not only in the area of training, but, thanks to the definition of moments dedicated to training, not only in schools but also towards institutions, it was possible to direct the project towards the implementation of interventions, including structural ones, specifically selected by the City of Salerno, which identified with aldermen and city councilors the sites suitable for transformation. It is therefore a project that hybridizes training with mild and more structured interventions in the area with the cooperation of associations and actors who are well aware of the situations to be improved or restored.
