  • Description of the project
Preistoriche Green Lodge is a new chapter in the now well-established collaboration between Studio Apostoli and the Stoppato family. A partnership that began in 2019 with the Neró SPA New Experience project, with which the Studio was able to improve the entire Resort and win national and international awards.

Preistoriche Green Lodge will showcase 8 Lodges (fully-equipped Suites) built on low stilts immersed in the woods. A dreamlike atmosphere is created by the innovative choice of sustainable design, the integration of an Indoor/Outdoor experience, and exceptional architectural qualities. The individual elements making up the complex are connected by suspended walkways, forming multiple contemplative paths through the greenery.

Trees are the true protagonists of the project and, as well as being a conceptual motif, they feature within the individual lodges. They create not only a visual integration with the surrounding environment but also an emotional and sensorial one.

Preistoriche Green Lodge is a project destined to strengthen a trend in the Hospitality market that is increasingly geared towards creating alternative lifestyles that are deeply connected with nature.

Through this project, Studio Apostoli wanted to create a residential environment for the ones who are in search of a deep bond between man and nature.

The Preistoriche Green Lodge was built with the main aim to transform well-being into something tangible, employing an elegant style with a valuable meaning, inspired by the surrounding area and reserving a strong look to sustainability, first and foremost asking the question: "Are we creating Wellness for customers and the environment?"

Sustainability and Inclusiveness are the key words of this project conceived by those who know this relationship in depth, since the fact Studio Apostoli has always studied it and constantly tried to improve it.

As a result, the Green Lodge sustainable design is characterized by: the use of thermal groundwater, wooden load-bearing structure and the construction of elevated houses on piles in order to limit excavation and cutting of tree roots, the desire to preserve the forest (flora and fauna) and the construction of 'green roofs' capable of absorbing rainwater and limiting the impact on the sewer system.

Walls and interiors are made with materials that blend into nature, both inside and outside, in order to give to the complex a unique and harmonious style. Creating homes that perfectly blend into a place's environment provides a “community inclusive feeling”. Houses and the surrounding environment are unified through the vegetation, by adapting them to the uniformity of the existing plants and trees.
“Wellness” leads the development of all Studio Apostoli’s projects. Through this approach, we define a set of clear and tangible principles based on a plurality of perspectives.

Well-being is the searching path for the best possible balance between body, mind and soul. Studio’s payoff “Wellness through Architecture” means that we are delivering Wellness through many tools, such as compositional harmony, experiential quality, technological perfection, sustainability, use of elements instead of materials, analysis and reinterpretation of the context and territory.

The choice to use wood and materials which perfectly integrate themselves with nature, linked to the opportunity of waking up with the sounds and nature scents, is invaluable. Factors which bring high quality to life and to the project as well, can be considered as a sort of retreat that people can take from the overwhelming city’s life routine.

The starting point is the research for absolute purity, elevating to “protagonists” the design elements lodge is made of. The whole, in a complete system, where light, naturalness and elegance create an innovative sensory experience to guests.
Studio Apostoli’s approach can be defined a sort of “Wellness Architecture”, which origins itself from the convergence of creativity, decades of expertise and technical know-how competence. We strongly believe in the effects generated from the balance between the physical, mental and spiritual components of people’s relationship with themselves, others and nature.

Green Lodge, as part of the Prehistoric SPA in Montegrotto Terme, has been designed in order to be a place where guests can experience total relaxation, well-being and truly feel part of the nature that surrounds the entire lodge.

Trees are the true protagonists of the project and, as well as being a conceptual motif, they feature within the individual lodges. They create not only a visual integration with the surrounding environment but also an emotional and sensorial one.

The 8 suites are entirely built of wood and modernly furnished, making guests feel as if they are arriving in a place where natural materials and modern interior-design solutions guarantee a profound sense of pure wellbeing.

Besides the theme of inclusion, Studio has paid careful attention to the integration of the elderly and people with disabilities, equipping the area with paths and walkways to facilitate guest moving through the lodge. As a matter of fact, the lodge is suitable for families with children, couples or to whoever need to simply integrate with nature.
Green Lodge complex is in the latest phases of construction’s works and will be active and fully operative from March 2023.

Green Lodge has been designed in order to provide a positive and new impact to an area highly affected from the post-Covid economic effects and, most importantly, to give a strong boost to the sustainable tourism, promoting an innovative and unusual “green idea” of tourism inside a higly-industrialized area such as northern-east Italian Padan Plain.

Studio Apostoli desire was to realize an architectural living idea of design that could have become an important part of the environment, making project's innovative outdoors a pleasant space for residents to live in.

Houses and their environment should always create a unique harmonious landscape, including native plants present in the Colli Euganei Regional Park. Despite that, location is easy to reach by car, as it is in the city center of Montegrotto.

Undoubtedly citizens, as well tourists, will take benefit from Lodge and from the wide range of innovative services it offers. The complex is also well connected to the thermal center Terme Preistoriche and to the historical city of Padua.
Being not a strictly architectural project, Studio has took advantage of professional firms and experts in the field of sustainability, such as a forestry doctor (whose task was to check the quality of the soil and the health of the trees), a thermo-technical engineer (in order to find the best and most sustainable lighting and heating solutions) and a forester.

Another important figure which collaboration was even more preponderant, has been the archaeologist who, during the analysis phase, had to ascertain that no historical artefacts were present in the lot area. Indeed, the area of Montegrotto is known to have been, in the past, an area rich in settlements of primitive men tribes. This is the reason why the well-known baths were called “prehistoric baths”, Terme Preistoriche in italian.
The 25+ years expertise of Studio Apostoli is based on the different training, identities and attitudes of collaborators who dialogue, compare and finalize a result putting together a global vision of the project and its general and specific objectives.

Architecture, Interior Design, Product design and Strategic Consulting services are only few of the disciplines managed with a structured working method which includes not only technical or creative skills, but also economic, managerial and administrative skills.
Preistoriche Green Lodge is a project destined to strengthen a trend in the Hospitality market that is increasingly geared towards creating alternative lifestyles that are deeply connected with nature.

The project also boasts the use of the best modern technologies and materials: the area in fact is provided with an electric car-charging infrastructure and a work-spot in the forest where bicycles can be stored and repaired. These choices create a unique atmosphere without the excesses of 'luxury', promoting sustainable tourism and sustainable mobility.
The project appears to be extremely innovative, beside being made of sustainable materials and being in favor of the environment, it aims integrating people with the surrounding nature ensuring mental and physical wellness as well.

The project, involves the construction of an urban area on the outskirts of Padua, in Montegrotto Terme, a place characterized by the essence of naturalness in a cohesive and lively social context, which will include wooden-made lodges accompanied by a series of innovative services, a an elevated walkway to make it easier for anyone to enter the forest allowing the guests to immerse themselves in a natural environment.

Indeed, innovation is also characterized by the fact to offer customers accommodations which differ from typical hotel rooms. A pleasant retreat offering psychological and physical well-being to whoever requires to escape from the city context, incorporated in the Terme Preistoriche SPA.
For us, "wellbeing" is the first step in the development of all the firm's projects.
We call this approach "TOTAL WELLNESS" and it allows us to be an international LEADER, in a niche sector, of which we know every aspect. In a world where there are too many luxury and lifestyle hospitality brands and too few differences, there is a greater need than ever for holistic concepts that focus on the core pillars of intuitive service, connectivity, sophistication, character and a sense of community.
As tourists are looking for unique and innovative experiences, sustainable places are fast becoming the most sought-after destination in the tourism market. Accommodation facilities such as hotels and resorts must prepare to welcome this new wave of travelers with a message of sustainability and architectural innovation.
Nature and community-based resorts will be the trend of the future, accommodating a smaller number of guests in fewer traditional places and activities, while striving to ease the burden on ecosystems. Using sustainable practices, such as nature-based management, which adapts to the pre-existing environment to sustain it, interact with it and protect it.
This is our credo and the approach we intend to adopt in the projects to come.
The project is characterized in lodges made of wood and other sustainable materials. Consequently, the entire structure can be replicated wherever it is intended to benefit the local community, should a private residential complex be built. Or alternatively, tourists can be offered an alternative to common tourist facilities, offering innovative hospitality that promises nature, novelty and wellness.

A cost-effective way to enhance the guest experience, which can strengthen feelings of community while improving well-being and health. A significant opportunity for accommodations to leverage wellness initiatives to gain a competitive advantage while doing good for the environment. Indeed, experiences are more intense and memorable when multiple senses are engaged simultaneously.
According to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, our pioneer projects focuses on several sustainable aspects, by providing profitable local solution with a view to improve well-being and living conditions.
GOAL 3: Good Health and Well-being - By promoting a life in contact with nature, we want to make people aware of the environment itself, which means better health for each other and for generations to come.
GOAL 7: Affordable and Clean Energy - The infrastructure is provided with modern and sustainable energy service and advanced technology, avoiding fossil fuels consumption.
GOAL 11: Sustainable cities and communities – Preistoriche Green Lodge provides sustainable transportations as it is furnished of electric car-charging spots and suspended walkways, aiming at having special attention to the needs of those are in vulnerable situations, women, children, persons with disabilities and elders. - Anyone will be able to get into the houses in the forest, without having to worry about the rough ground.
Rising awareness towards the lodge guests to respect the nature, just by appreciating the dreamy context in which people live.
