  • Description of the initiative
In Germany and the EU, there is increasing xenophobia in the field of plants. Foreign plants are perceived as invasive, ecologically worthless and threatening and blamed for insect decline. The removal of all foreign plants is required.
Our initiative refutes these prejudices against foreign plants.
A "park of biodiversity" will be created. The basis for this is a collection of about 18,000 different bamboo seedlings Fargesia nitida. This collection represents a unique treasure of biodiversity, as this plant flowers only at intervals of about 120 years.
The planting is complemented by various non-native plants that are non-invasive. In addition, structures are created that are conducive to the insect world.
The proof that foreign plants actually have a great value for the insect and bird world is provided, an impending "ecocide" is averted.
What would be the consequences of an "ecocide"?
In addition to the "cultural damage" that the destruction of all supposedly ecologically worthless and thus considered unworthy of life foreign plants will cause, the enormous costs associated with the implementation must also be pointed out.
The currently adopted deeply xenophobic, racist path in nature conservation also threatens to permanently endanger the reputation of Germany and the EU worldwide.
It is time for an authentic grassroots movement that is also committed to cosmopolitanism and tolerance in the field of biodiversity.
    The learning/knowledge objectives:
With very few exceptions, most foreign plants represent an enrichment of our cultural landscape and biodiversity.
By juxtaposing media smear campaigns with fact-based scientific observations, people gain insight into scientific reality. A moment of amazement is achieved and critical media literacy is also promoted.
    For whom is it suitable?
For kindergartens, schools, universities, public institutions and millions of garden owners.

    Overcoming xenophobia
    Media literacy
    Science Education
Preservation and transformation of a region's cultural heritage
Arouse curiosity and the urge to explore
The aim of the project is to educate about the benefits of foreign plants and to impart fact-based knowledge. Only facts can be the basis for decisions.
Here is a quote from a press release of the Council of the EU of 16 June 2022:
"Council adopts recommendation on learning for the green transition and sustainable development

Member States are recommended, inter alia:

provide evidence-based and understandable information on the climate, environment and biodiversity crisis and its causes;"

Foreign plants can be the game-changers in the areas of CO2 sequestration, renewable raw materials and energy sources, biodiversity and pandemics .
Even the health of bees, according to our observations, is probably related to foreign plants.

Furthermore, aspects of the bioeconomy are presented. If Mr. Schellnhuber calls for bamboo as a new building material, it makes no sense to transport it over thousands of kilometers if it can also be grown in Germany, for example, and in addition to the economic benefit also serves as a hotspot of biodiversity and binds CO2 in the humus layer, makes annual soil cultivation and pesticide use superfluous.

Finally, a quote rp online from 11.05.2004:
"Bamboo is one of the oldest and most fascinating life forms on earth," said UNEP Director Klaus Töpfer. The plant is not only valuable for the economy but also for the preservation of biodiversity.

Furthermore, the scientific observation and research in the Glücksgarten provided insights into the "dying of insects" and its causes. In 2023 we will seek cooperation with a toxicologist. We are on the trail of the true main cause of insect mortality. We have definitely provided proof that it is not due to the use of foreign plants.

When a state of emergency was declared due to the death of insects, the media called for the destruction of all foreign plants. A garden culture that has grown over centuries is in danger of being destroyed.
The bamboo project exposes the lies in the campaigns against alien plants. The very valuable garden culture is saved from hatred of everything foreign.
Connections of the project with the neighborhood or the local environment and community:
Cultural-historical reference to the local environment:
With Rudolf Carsten and Ernst Pagels, the Lübeck area is the birthplace of two very important personalities of grass breeding and selection.
Ernst Pagels: One of the most important perennial breeders in Germany (Miscanthus, Bambus).
Rudolf Carsten: One of the most successful grain breeders in Germany (market share of 90 %).
Exactly at the place where Rudolf Carsten began his first breeding attempts on a plot, my bamboo was sown in the garden.
One of the mother plants came from Scharbeutz – Klingberg in the immediate vicinity of Gut Garkau. Gut Garkau is the only farm that was built in the Bauhaus style and has been preserved.
The bamboo project is to be integrated into the regional cultural landscape strategy:
    http://regiobranding.de/sites/default/files/uploads/Regiobranding-Innovationskonzept-Band3_L%C3%BCbeck-Nordwestmecklenburg.pdf
    "… Kulturlandschaftsstrategie 2030
... to open up to the stranger, to the other, that's how one could describe the strategy.
This is how people in our focus region want to live in the future
    • Open to diversity, dynamism and happiness
    • Overcoming boundaries – physically and mentally

    In 2030 ...
    4. ... places of happiness (Glück) from ... are made known for local recreation and sustainable tourism, marketed and upgraded as far as possible.

    9. ... the landscape is successfully linked to eventful education."

Bamboo as a garden of happiness (Glücksgarten), a place of happiness of tolerance and diversity...
Owners of foreign plants are labeled criminals in the media. The hatred of foreign plants is indirectly transferred to their owners, they are stigmatized and excluded. The scientifically based observations within the framework of the bamboo project show how lies and hate poison a social climate.

A further "crosstalk" of xenophobia towards people with a migration background is to be feared. To put it bluntly: Those who are educated to perceive foreign plants as a threat may also show this attitude towards people with a migration background.

The demanded ban on the sale of foreign plants is prevented. People will continue to participate in a cosmopolitan garden culture.

Foreign plants were often native to Germany before the Ice Age.
Biodiversity knows no "Aryan plants", it is cosmopolitan, like nature is always changing. For example, there is no "Adolf Hitler bee" and "Eva Braun plant", German insects do not only live on German plants. An opposite image is disseminated in the media.
Citizens gain insights into the scientific reality and can use the scientific documentation to defend themselves against xenophobic attacks directed against the planting of their properties. They no longer have to put up with being labeled and denounced as criminals.

The citizens of Lübeck were very extensively involved in the creation of the cultural landscape strategy. This happened over several years and cost several hundred thousand euros.
The result of this strategy, opening up to the stranger, is now coming to life.

    I offer:
    1. A unique treasure of biodiversity and cultural heritage in the form of bamboo plants, a plant that blooms simultaneously all over the world only at intervals of about 120 years.

    2. An extensive and fact-based documentation in the form of a traveling exhibition. The value of biodiversity, including foreign plants, is conveyed and media literacy is promoted.
    3. An authentic story of this project, which can only be touched on here in a nutshell. The bamboo project is essentially also a cultural project.
    Notes:
From Katharina Ustings to Ernst Pagels and Rudolf Carsten to the bamboo project,
by Harry Maasz on landscape architecture for modern building in Klingberg,
from the Catholic Church (bamboo miracle) to the Unitarians, also the druids play a role,
from Sonnengesang (Laudato si’) to atc-Song, Wincent Weiss and Felix Jaehn,
by Thomas Mann via the Schwartau spring to the Magic Mountain,
from Walt Whitman to Frido Mann in the present ...

The worlds of literature, music, nature, religion, history and science meet at this unique genius loci.
Since the demanded destruction of all foreign plants is a great crime in my opinion, we turn to the political representatives at various levels:
Wiebke Zweig: Stadtpräsidentin Bad Schwartau, Landtagsabgeordnete: u.a. Sprecherin für Wissenschaft und Forschung, politische Bildung,
Daniel Günther: Ministerpräsident des Landes Schleswig-Holstein
Ursula von der Leyen: Präsidentin der Europäischen Kommission
Since the churches play a major role in the transformation, I will also contact the Pope and ask for an opinion.

We will try to build networks:
    Regional:
Gymnasium am Mühlenberg: Europaschule, Schule ohne Rassismus, Schule mit Courage
    Naturwissenschaftlicher Verein Lübeck
Museum für Natur und Umwelt Lübeck
    Hansemuseum Lübeck
    Stadt Bad Schwartau
    Hansestadt Lübeck
    Gemeinde Stockelsdorf
    Supraregional:
    Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU)
    Federation of German Scientists (VDW)
    EU

A cooperation with Gut Garkau might be possible. An authentic grassroots movement then encountered the Neues Bauen or the Bauhaus.

    https://germany.representation.ec.europa.eu/news/ursula-von-der-leyen-das-neue-europaische-bauhaus-ist-herz-und-seele-des-grunen-deals-2022-06-09_de

„Zum Start des Europäischen Grünen Deals haben wir festgestellt, dass etwas fehlt: nämlich eine Graswurzelbewegung durch die Menschen. Und deshalb sagen wir, dass das Herz und die Seele des Europäischen Grünen Deals das Neue Europäische Bauhaus ist. Auch wenn wir die Ukraine wieder aufbauen, werden wir es im Geiste des Neuen Europäischen Bauhauses tun.“

“At the launch of the European Green Deal, we realized that something was missing: a grassroots movement by the people. And that is why we say that the heart and soul of the European Green Deal is the New European Bauhaus. Even if we rebuild Ukraine, we will do it in the spirit of the New European Bauhaus.”

President Ursula von der Leyen invoked the spirit of the Bauhaus and a grassroots movement: Here it is.
    Research:
Part of the project is an extensive media analysis: Who puts what knowledge about foreign plants on the net. How do the different groups deal with the information. The following groups could be mentioned: newspapers, associations, parties, churches, scientific research, legislators.

Scientific work: Citations from published studies were followed up to the study. How was the study conducted? Is the study representative?

Word Choice: How campaigns use wording when assessing the value of foreign plants. What emotional effect do these words have? How do they manipulate?

How do the campaigns affect policymakers and eventually legislators?

On the other hand, scientific observations were made and captured on camera.

The initiative is characterized by the fact that it creates knowledge locally. How easy it is to parrot media campaigns. How convenient is the "scientific work": cite, cite published by et al. et al. et al. et al. ...
The rumor grows with the quote. The rumor by Paul Weber. And then the other side of Weber.
The initiative points out: Get out! See for yourself! Don't trust an "expert". Nature observation is something for everyone. Be curious! Create knowledge yourself and document it!
On the one hand, the facts regarding the value of foreign plants can be grasped and experienced by humans in a "park of biodiversity". The observed findings are documented and carried into the educational institutions via travelling exhibitions. In this way, knowledge reaches a large number of people.
The methodology is very original. First, a media analysis was carried out regarding the value of foreign plants. It was recognized how targeted campaigns against foreign plants are repeated again and again.
The second step was to capture and document the natural scientific reality of the plants. The scientific connections observed are diametrically opposed to the campaigns spread in the media.
    Dear evaluator of the application,
in principle, the bamboo project has already been evaluated. It developed in parallel with another educational project.

The KU and VDW also developed a bamboo project at the same time as the bamboo project in Bad Schwartau. There are other indirect connections that are described in detail in a "culture catalogue": "A new grass for Lübeck".

    Pressemitteilung18. September 2020Brüssel
"Progress in the fight against racism and hatred is a tender plant – laboriously drawn, but also quickly gone. The time for change has come. For a Union without any racism – condemnation is important Action is even more important! And the Commission is putting forward an action plan to achieve this goal."
Bamboo Park: The plants are ready. Only one location needs to be approved.

Documentation of the project: The extensive media analysis is documented. The scientific observations are also documented in numerous pictures and films. For the traveling exhibition, the results only have to be printed out. The virtual world of the internet and the world of real nature meet. The viewer experiences a very impressive moment.
The first trial exhibition is planned for March 2023. The feedback from the visitors is evaluated and the exhibition design is optimized accordingly. Then a multiplication of the exhibition is planned in order to reach as broad a public as possible and to avert an impending ecocide.

I need European Union support for the bamboo project. Resistance in local authorities has to be overcome.

Many hundreds of thousands of euros and many thousands of hours of work have been invested in the project.
It now wants to grow and be free in a Europe without racism, in a Europe of free science.

    https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/de/SPEECH_20_1655
"Denn in dieser Union wird die Bekämpfung von Rassismus niemals nur eine Option sein. Sondern eine Pflicht.

Wir werden für mehr Wissen und Aufklärung über die historischen und kulturellen Ursachen von Rassismus sorgen.

Wir werden gegen unbewusste Vorurteile angehen, bei Menschen, Behörden, ja sogar Algorithmen."

"Because in this Union, fighting racism will never just be an option. But a duty.

We will provide more knowledge and education about the historical and cultural causes of racism.

We will tackle unconscious prejudices, in people, in authorities, even in algorithms."
    https://education.ec.europa.eu/focus-topics/green-education/learning-for-the-green-transition
"Learning for the green transition and sustainable development
Europeans rank climate change among the most serious problems facing the world today. Education and training, like all sectors, must take action to respond to this planetary crisis.
The European Commission supports EU Member States in their efforts to

equip learners and educators with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for a greener and more sustainable economy and society
help education and training institutions to integrate sustainability into teaching and learning and across all aspects of their operations
create a shared understanding on the deep and transformative changes needed in education and training for sustainability and the green transition"

If we equip learners and educators with the deeply xenophobic knowledge that has its roots in the views of the Reich Landscape Lawyers in the Third Reich, we are committing a crime.

It is up to us whether it will be a green transition or a "brown transition" based on racism.

    I am looking for:
    1. Protection and support for the bamboo project. It threatens to fail due to the resistance of local authorities. The neighborhood threatened to destroy the project and the first steps were taken. The hunger for building land and the hatred of foreign plants are palpable.
    We don’t have time.
There is little time left to save this unique project.

    2. Contact with educational institutions to provide fact-based, comprehensible information about biodiversity and the value of foreign plants in travelling exhibitions.
