The "Plan Entre2" Project arises from the purpose of Recognition, Safeguarding and Innovation of the Cultural, Intangible Heritage of Popular Embroidery of a peripheral rural region called the Sierra de Francia in the province of Salamanca. The result of a public-private collaboration, the project is articulated around two fundamental axes: SAFEGUARD, based on the recognition and continuity of an intercultural heritage legacy that integrates aesthetics from northern Europe and the Mediterranean arc, and INNOVATION, which investigates, explores and generates, through the creative coworking Lab-CREARTE "Eco-cultural Design and Innovation Laboratory", new paths of plastic, artistic and educational application, with the guiding thread of this intangible heritage.
Through the multidisciplinary work of different professionals linked to the sectors of crafts, art, culture, education and the new cultural and creative industries, cultural immersion projects are being generated for different age groups, but also decorative products in different craft disciplines and others of collaborative beautification of public spaces based on artistic interpretations and new meanings of the iconographic universe of intangible heritage and integrative languages of rural and urban aesthetics.
Since its inception in 2018, it has promoted an impulse for the recognition and value of the community of artisan women in the region, as true bearers of the intangible legacy, doing important research, dissemination, cultural immersion and institutional mediation work that has meant its Declaration in 2022 as BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest) by the regional government of the Junta de Castilla y León.
In addition to the value of social and territorial integration that this has meant in this first phase of the Plan, in addition to new products and services, new forms of collaborative work have been generated, with new meanings and languages between different population groups and creative agents
Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage
Social and interdisciplinary participation
New identity meanings in rural territories
Sustainability of peripheral rural territories
Design and Applied Arts in public spaces
Those responsible for and promoters of the Plan EnTre2 Project are aware of the entire ecosystem in which we operate and taking into account not only the impact of the project in time and space on biodiversity and natural resources, but also value the processes intrinsic circularity in traditional trades, recovering skills and behaviors in the use of materials and energy. Observing the cycles of the ecosystem, we recognize the value of the environment's resources and biodiversity, which also inspires the aesthetic motives and structural forms of the resulting artistic and craft products.
In this sense, the project returns more than it needs, improving the use of resources and biodiversity and encouraging the restoration and expansion of nature through the processes of enhancing the value of the cultural and natural heritage of the environment, in which A large part of the compositions and zoomorphic and phytomorphic elements that make up the iconographic universe of Popular Embroidery are based, developing in cultural immersion activities, an authentic educational and integrative recognition between cultural and natural values, as well as in the circular conception of the processes of elaboration and construction of artisan products and artistic installations
In this way, the project, in addition to recognizing the value of Cultural Heritage as an element and external manifestation of intangible culture, invites the participating individuals and groups to value the way in which the processes are developed, both in the design phases and in the the phases of elaboration and use of energy and materials. Considering the functioning of natural ecosystems, the contexts of rural life and environments, we can recognize and value sustainability as a fundamental paradigm in a transformation process, collecting the values of the past and incorporating them into the new visions of the world, in their aesthetics. and cultural, social and environmental behaviors
At first, the qualities of an intangible heritage element in the territorial context of the Sierra de Francia are REACTIVATED, in a collaborative way, generating an incentive for recognition and enhancement that has contributed to the improvement of physical, mental and emotions of its inhabitants. Reinforcing the CONNECTION and social and territorial integration, we have involved different places and people, inside and outside the territory, fostering a sense of belonging through significant collective experiences. INTEGRATING NEW lasting cultural and social VALUES, we have developed, through individual and participatory artistic and cultural creation, new interpretations and meanings, while we have contributed to the Safeguarding and institutional recognition with the declaration of BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest) by the Junta de Castilla y León.
Beyond personal preferences, the "Plan EnTre2" Project places from its inception, through Lab-CREARTE, the creative process at the center of what makes it "beautiful", respectfully integrating INNOVATION with knowledge and technical knowledge, collective sensitivity and affective values of the intangible imaginary through the line of SAFEGUARD for which it has been accepted as a collaborating NGO of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the World.
With intelligence based on the QUALITY of management and honesty of the human team and adequately distributing the powers and functions in the different processes of creation and execution of the actions, we have facilitated a friendly and inclusive environment between the different institutions and collaborating agents in their phases. development, generating positive and enriching experiences for the recipients and the participating actors, beyond the functionality of the resulting product
The Red Arrayán organization, in line with the NEB Compass, maintains a positive, open and non-discriminatory approach to the "Plan EnTre2" project, without categorizing social groups based on their differences. By not labeling any of them explicitly, some of its activities focus attention on groups of vulnerable people, facilitating the recognition of their skills and talents and therefore their social integration.
It is an open and inclusive initiative, facilitating physical, cognitive, psychological accessibility to the participating people and groups, being therefore affordable for all,
We consider the needs of the least represented, through equal treatment and opportunities, being one of the essential values since its inception that have led to its success, internally and externally recognizing the value of certain less represented groups and communities in the sociocultural context. , such as the group of artisan women from rural communities, true bearers and transmitters of knowledge
It is an initiative that has carried out important work involving the participation of agents, groups and institutions. Safeguarding the principle of equal treatment and social justice, it has fostered access to different population groups, guaranteeing the call mechanisms, as well as the financial instruments for carry out activities in cooperation with public and private entities.
Facilitating institutional political planning for the declaration of Asset of Cultural Interest, as well as promoting inclusion for employment and the development of business models linked to cultural heritage. We encourage institutional cooperation and this with the groups and agents of the territory in community, participatory and inclusive development, promoting awareness of limiting and obsolete socio-cultural models, facilitating the creation and promotion of new values and transforming benefits
We encourage institutional cooperation and this with the groups and agents

The Project Plan "EnTre2" starts from an initial impulse of public-private collaboration between Red Arrayán and the Mogarraz City Council, being generated in a multidisciplinary design process in which professionals participate contributing their vision from different perspectives. the values and foundations that drive the project, as well as the articulation of the two strategic axes, SAFEGUARDING and INNOVATION, which, in addition to giving the project its name and aligning itself with UNESCO recommendations, form its structural base, from where the different collaboration programs and actions carried out in these four years have pivoted.
From that first moment, alliances have been established with other public and private entities at the local, regional and national level, participating and developing processes and actions around the common purpose and decision-making: "The Recognition, Safeguarding and Innovation of Cultural Heritage Immaterial".

The Project has been articulated based on the knowledge and experience of professionals linked to the Red Arrayán organization in various fields of activity related to fundamental aspects of Sustainable Development: environmental education, historical heritage research, sociocultural revitalization, ecotourism and valuing craft trades, valuing, from different innovative processes, the common purpose of facilitating the "Comprehensive Sustainable Development of peripheral rural and mountain territories".
This global starting point in the fundamental purpose and actions developed since the creation of Red Arrayan in 1996, has been the basis for the creation and development of the project "Plan EnTre2" whose initial objective is "The Recognition and Enhancement of Heritage Immaterial Culture”.
However, and through the actions of investigation, dynamization and direct contact with the people and communities that carry them, linked to the cultural manifestation of Popular Embroidery, we have identified structural deficiencies linked to the loss of identity and associated values of a cultural, social, environmental and economy of this territory. Therefore, through the project, the low feeling of belonging that affects different population groups and that can be the basis of the stagnation of many rural territories has been highlighted, becoming aware that the lack of recognition and belonging are of great importance in the evolution and development of these spaces.
In this sense, the results obtained have been significant, due to the awareness of many people, groups and institutions, by verifying that the recognition of heritage and associated values (without comparisons), through new interpretations and meanings, They are a powerful transformation tool necessary for the Sustainable Development of these territories.
Incorporating processes of participatory research, recognition, safeguarding, cultural immersion, diffusion and cultural innovation through coworking
In the year 2018 of its creation, the Lab-CREARTE "Laboratory of Design and Eco-Cultural Innovation of Red Arrayán" receives the first Fuentes Claras award from the Junta de Castilla y León for Innovation of small municipalities in the Region for the works Cultural Immersion and Recognition of values and talents carried out in different groups of women from Sierra de Francia municipalities. Since then it has been the INNOVATIVE TOOL of products, processes and services of the "Plan EnTre2" and other related public-private collaboration initiatives with the development of Creativity and the promotion of Craft Trades.
Contributing to the identification of creative TALENTS and interdisciplinary collaborative design, we promote innovation through the recognition of the VALUE OF COLLABORATION with the social, economic and cultural sectors, contributing to the transformation in the face of new global challenges and sustainable development in rural ecosystems. peripheral and mountain, establishing alliances with local entities, development groups and related sectors.
In line with the SDGs, the Green Pact and the New European Bauhaus, we are promoting a Design and Creativity NODE in the territory in connection with other national and international groups and entities that provide us with models and tools for channeling the objectives as a Creative Coworking and regional node of cultural innovation in the areas of collaborative design and the development of new artistic and craft applications with the guiding thread of natural and cultural heritage.
Generating new interpretations, meanings and applications of the arts, the artistic trades in combination with the cultural industries provide innovation value in the face of the new social and economic challenges of today's society.
* Creative and collaborative interprofessional coworking for the creation of products, processes and services that boost the creative economy in the territory.
* Multipurpose training and trainin
The approach developed in the project has been based on the inclusive, sustainable and collaborative approach as the fundamental purpose and objectives of the constitution of the organization Red Arrayán de Cultura, Patrimonio y Medio Ambiente, incorporated into the lines of action of the projects developed in different rural territories in Spain and the Ibero-American Community.
In the trajectory developed since 1996, we have independently maintained this global framework approach, evolving continuously in the incorporation of tools for professionalization, evaluation and improvement of processes through the implementation of innovative models such as the FQM management model. of quality and that of the CETS of EUROPARC to achieve a closer approach to the objectives of the organization, always from the premise of global thinking and local action.
Incorporating this methodological approach into the project, we have added new multilevel tools applied at different scales of "cultural mediation", "participatory research", eco-cultural immersion", "public-private collaboration" and "cultural innovation" through actions developed for the creation of new intersectoral products and services by the creative coworking of Lab-CREARTE.
Arousing institutional interest at its different levels of competence, the Plan has achieved the connection of interested parties through various scales in a common commitment. From local associations and administrations, to regional and national governments, with the support of UNESCO for the Good Practices carried out in this regard. In this way, recognition of the project and an effective exchange of interested parties have been generated, both horizontally and vertically, advancing in a multilevel collaboration that integrates both.
Another of the significant approaches has been the recognition of creative and artistic talents and abilities in unemployed people belonging to vulnerable groups in the territory (women and +50 years)
In the "Plan EnTre2" Project, both the global and integrative conception as the basis of the organization, as well as the intersectoral and multilevel work in cooperation of professionals and cultural mediation between public and private entities, as well as its application in experiences of participatory research, immersion culture and development of products, processes and services through innovation applied from the creative coworking Lab-CREARTE, can be models of Good Practices that can be replicated in other places and rural and urban territories, taking into account the social, environmental, cultural and their economics, for which the tools of the NEB Compass can be used to a great extent to identify, frame, transmit and apply the knowledge acquired in this project, thus being able to serve as a structural map to be better understood and implemented successfully in other places and territories.
This effective multilevel collaboration can become a Good Practice of transferable solutions not only in the field of Intangible Cultural Heritage of rural territories, but in other areas of community development, producing organic models that provide stability to disseminate knowledge in an intersectoral way and activate inter-territorial and cross-border experimentation with new ideas and orientation mechanisms, both in the design, execution and evaluation phases. For this, the NEB Tool, in combination with the CREARTE model of interprofessional creative coworking of the Lab-CREARTE, can be a powerful mechanism for internalization and demonstration of transformative models from the cultural, environmental, social and economic perspective of sustainable development, making visible by example the experience of knowledge in different European places and territories and the Ibero-American community.
In this sense, the greatest ambition of Red Arrayán with the "EnTre2" project in line with the NEB is to define forms and models at various levels of a flexible nature..
The EnTre2 project, based on the knowledge of several years of work by the different managers and technicians of the Red Arrayán organization: Identifying the needs of this and other peripheral territories of the Spanish geography, we have seen that the greatest lack of these territories is the LACK OF IDENTITY and RECOGNITION OF THE ESSENTIAL VALUES OF ITS HUMAN, NATURAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE. From a global perspective, this situation is common to people, sectors, groups and territories in the world.
That is why we have considered it necessary to take this deficiency into account to launch a project that would directly identify and recognize that HERITAGE and the associated values it has, especially in the group of artisan women, but also as an element of social integration. and territorial. A real but at the same time symbolic element that generates empathy, unity, motivation and hope at the individual, sectoral and municipal level involved.
From the institutional recognition with the declaration of Cultural Interest by the Junta de Castilla y León, the first phase of the project is concluded in 2022, with a large number of innovative manifestations that are emerging from that first moment.
As of now (2023) we have been asked by different local, regional and national administrations to continue with the 2nd Phase of the Project whose objective will be to lead the candidacy for recognition of the "European Popular Embroidery" to be recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage .
It is decidedly a project that based on local needs has required a global vision to be addressed at its structural root, thus serving to be transferable to other places and territories with their singularities.
