The objective of this business project, Los quesitos de Anabel, is to set up a mini cheese factory in La Jaira de Ana for the production of our own cheese on our farm and with the milk provided by our goats. In this way we ensure good nutrition and care for our animals and guarantee good hygienic conditions.
The elaboration of semi-cured cheeses of approximately 1 to 2 kilos is intended with the option of recyclable labeling and packaging made of beeswax that counteract environmental problems such as plastic pollution and food waste.

On our farm we have goats that allow us to sell our goat milk and continue with the tradition of farming in the southeast of Gran Canaria and raise awareness among our visitors. With this, we generate a sustainable line of cheeses. We want to develop a product that is as respectful of the environment as possible, with recyclable labels and reusable beeswax containers. We want to invest in the technological structure for the manufacture of cheese and in a space dedicated to its production.
We are implementing ecological agriculture and livestock, with Gran Canaria and the municipality of Agüimes being important and qualitative production areas. Here, most of the steps are carried out in a closed and ecological cycle: we make our own compost thanks to the animals, we feed some of our animals with our agricultural production, we use the vegetables from the garden to cook, we carry out activities with the children thanks to to the material that the earth offers us and recyclable waste and we want to add the production of our own cheese with the milk that our goats offer us.
The project has a perspective based on empowering the female figure in the rural world, as well as giving value to human capital and developing quality products that provide profitability. Our main objective is to create sensations with cheese, through our farm, our goats, you get a cheese with that experience, so the added value is social and cultural.
We are going to develop the sale of the cheeses directly to the Jaira, which will also give people who come to buy the cheese a broader vision of what ecological agriculture and livestock is. We believe that the development of this type of company is a way of raising awareness about the importance of sustainable agriculture and livestock to counteract the effects of climate change. In addition, this way of selling cheese avoids the need for intermediaries that often require large amounts of plastic, energy and transport, and allows you to buy local products directly on the spot.
These products will also be offered to people who come to Jaira de Ana, just like we currently offer products from our organic farmers from all over the island: honey, olives, oil, salt.
The impact is indirect, it is a sustainable, ecological product, and all this clearly has an impact on food security, support for the local economy and reducing pollution. The nutritional properties of the animals according to their diet is high, and can be used to improve their diet in food.
In this case, it is local and regional and simply, through the local economy and all the agents that move in the environment. Agents that are, from people who visit the farm to people who have their own small business and who want to give value to the product and the experiences behind that product. Although behind it there is a discipline and work with a European strategic framework. The support for small businesses and a small business where all the sustainability actions are present is what gives it that value and is implemented among itself in the local environment but at the same time it becomes visible at the national level where there are more indirectly involved agents.
The field of knowledge starts from the primary sector but the environment in which we find ourselves to be able to establish a cheese of this magnitude is the European field, the CAP and the sustainable development objectives. These are supported and based on theoretical and conceptual frameworks, which is why we see the need to create a cheese that is not only a product in itself, but also has cultural, environmental and social connotations so that the person perceives it that way. and, in addition, it has that food safety value. The development of this concept also has, behind it, a technical and practical preparation of the person who manages it through specific courses on cheese technology and product improvement.
The project provides added value, social responsibility and circular economy ideas. Now they have to be developed and made visible.
In the long term, the project as an innovation wants to contribute robotics and be self-sufficient with renewable energy, as well as processes and quality criteria in its services and future products to be created.
Also, synergies will be sought with other projects and the associative participation of both the municipality and the island and that are in line with the ideals of the school farm and can provide added value.
In general, all the terms of the Jaira de Ana can be transferred to another place as long as good feeding of the goat and good care are taken into account.
We bet on the local economy that has an impact on the reduction of CO2 gases and pollution since there are no intermediaries and it is sold directly at the farm. Also the increase in the economy of the environment making it more sustainable that villages and rural sectors are maintained and not making cities overcrowded. Since the materials are sustainable, they are committed to safe recycling and, in addition, they are linked to the sustainable development objectives because they will generate employment with a women's profile, increasing the possibilities of development in rural areas.
