Learning about the physical body and health as an expression of harmony between mind body and soul
The purpose of this initiative is to provide the children in Albania with a relaxing and joyfull tool with which they could learn and take conscious about their body and health, by not filling their mind with information that he/she will not be able to use and will forget very quickly or that will burden the child even more emotionally and mentally, but by translating and dublicating an excisting animated film that had been very famous back in '90.

We are two doctors-dentists and mothers of children in kindergarten and preschool age interested in promoting health in children and beyond. The purpose of health information, according to us, is not to fill the child's mind with information that he/she will not be able to use and forget very quickly or that will burden the child even more emotionally and mentally, but in the form of a game to plant seeds for a level of awareness about the body and health starting first with the physical body and in further steps for the emotional, mental and further bodies.
We have grown up with animated films that have been an easy and pleasant way to learn foreign languages and to expand knowledge on the various topics they dealt with. The most complete in terms of health and body was "Once Upon a Time... Life", an animated film created by Albert Barillé, cosisting of 26 episodes lasting 30 minutes broadcasted for the first time in 1987 by France 3 in France.
The cartoon, intended for an audience of children and adults, illustrates, with the help of animated characters, the structure and functions of the human body, using anthropomorphic figures to represent its microscopic components, from white blood cells to vitamins, via DNA components. There human characters are children who ask their parents or grandparents for information; and each of them has a "microscopic" alter ego that represents an element of the anatomy.
We experienced the Instruction of oral health using the aforementioned film in the kindergarden of our children and it was such a success that we will do all the episodes with simultaneous comments from our part emphasizing the used of body with mind and love. We would like to continue this project by duplicating the film and making it accessible to everyone in albanian through youtube as a well spent time of the children in front of the screen with parents and grandparents and as an easy way to get to know the physical body.

The key objectives of this initiative:
1. sustainability: reconnecting with the body and seeing as a viewer what happens and how it functions and having a joyful time while witnessing it, gives a sense of natural reconnection with everyone and everything. Increasing the awareness that every body indipendent from the different outer appearance, has the same construction and function. This orient the education of a child toward self respect and others respect and nature respect and love as we all are the reflection of each other and of nature.
2. circularity: the re-use of an exciting animated film for the increase of awarenes on body contruction and health
3. biodiversity: we tend to search for an outer respect for the biodiversity when we are not aware of the different celles and component of our body that harmoniously work together as one. This knowledge establishes a sense of acceptance of the diversity among humans, among life beings among everything around.
The beauty of children being aware and conscious of their body and all the functions in a playful way. When you know better, you act better and treat better the temple of our soul, you learn or remember to listen to what our body tells in order to use the tools we have (emotions, feeling and mind) to treat it better and to heal from within. Knowing yourself and all your parts better, you comprehend that we are all one and an perfect expression of life and nature, and this way we treat better one another, treat better with gentleness, respect, gladness and love nature and everything around and within. You know the beauty of yourself and reflect this beauty everywhere e and every time.
From a child point of view, watching the red blood cells smile and transport oxygen and talking with each other, helps overcome the feeling of fear from the blood when happening to get hurt while playing. Getting to know that the blood that comes out, is in deed our army of healing, helps overcome the emotions that invade the child when getting hurt. All the material of the animated film has this way of presenting all systems of the body and dealing with the disease.
This method we propose is accessible and affordable to everyone, se ones translated and duplicated in Albanian language, the animated film would be published in youtube and everyone could access to it freely. Internet, the webs and the screens make it possible to be accessible and affordable for everyone.
Introducing animation films as a way of learning in the early stages of learning could facilitate the integration of the information and reduce the stress associated with learning. It could be a playful way of learning and a constructive use of the time they spent in front of the screen and internet for the children of young age.
Prevention is better than treating that is why the main focus are the children, however, the change that a child can cause to an adult as nature reminds us from the way it comes to life, gives the hope that even in a very established attitude toward the body and health, could be modified in the presence and service of a child. It can be used as a time spent together between children and parent or grandparents, as going to the cinema together, as the content of the animation film need the presence of an adult in order to explain and give answers when there are any.
The animated film does not have an Albanian translation. Since at this age, translation with subtitles would be useless and tiring, we thought about translation with Albanian duplication, as was done in Italian or other languages . Based on this personal experience, we were motivated to create a path for health and body awareness at the kindergarten and preschool ages using this animated film dubbed in Albanian as the first step that will enrich the path based on experience.
It is thought that first the full cycle can be developed in the kindergarten that has started, then with the end of the dubbing the educators can be instructed to present the material as part of the program.
In the realization of this initiative, medicine teaching artistic and linguistic knowledge are combined and mixed together with the desire to provide an easy tool of learning about physical body and health,as a first step in gainig awareness of the body and its proper use and care from an early age.
The innovative character of this initiative stands in the inclusion of animated films as a learning method, especially in the early age where the burden of information and the emotional and mental challenge of remembering and performing is better to be avoid as long as a child does not have the proper means to deal with this burden of information and neither does he/she have the opportunity to use that amount of information given in the preschools and schools in order to integrate in the real life.
Animated films could be an easier way to learn as it is not seen as a learning itself but as a recreation.
As the Project have started the full cycle can be developed in the kindergarten , then with the end of the translation and duplication the educators can be instructed to present the material as part of the program.
Through our voluntary work, we are trying to give to the children knowledge about health, various diseases, their prevention, care for the body, emotions and respect for each other. Until now, our method has been illustrating our lessons with pictures, or dolls. But having the opportunity to use the movie 'Once upon a time.. Life' in Italian that we comment (as many children in the age of 4 or 5 don't understand Italian) we noticed that the children were much more interested in knowing more about the body. The lesson suddenly turned into fun. For this reason, we want to translate and dub this movie into the Albanian language, so that it is accessible to every Albanian child, not only in Albania but also abroad. Since Albania has a high number of immigrants, this would be a very valuable gift for the whole new generation.
1. turning learning proces into a pleasure proces
2. turning the time a child spends in front of the screen and internet in a contructive time that favours the increase of the awareness of the physical body in health and disease, of the harmony that resides in the collaboration of all the parts of the body to obtain the same purpose.
3. giving an opportunity for parents and grandparents to spend time and interact with the children by learning
The importance of knowing the body from a young age helps us to have a more conscious level of care towards it, as the means through which life, emotions, thoughts are expressed. A child who knows his body, knows how to use it to walk in this life because he knows the means through which he will reach his goals and realize his dreams. A child who takes care of his own body is a child who also takes care of another's body, and in this way, little by little, a society is cultivated that respects itself and the other, knows the limits of itself and the other, a harmonious society and an expression the most natural part of life that cannot be otherwise than beautiful.
