In the elementary school we do not want to teach them the order but how the bees communicate and work with each other and how these children, if they learn from the bees, we will have a better environment and more people loving and preserving the tradition of Beekeping.
History of the beekeeping in the area

The environment in this area has a very rich variety of vegetation which gives very special properties to the taste of honey. Vegetation such as linden, various flowers, oregano, sage, etc grow in this area. In Zagori beekeeping has a long history.

The project will be implemented in urban and rural areas. In the rural areas the activities are minor than the engagement of the urban children in different activities that the schools provide. In this project the collaboration between children of rural areas and children of urban areas will contribute in creating more accessibility and inclusion environment for the children of rural area. During these years an awareness about the environment has been made from the government. Our initiative about the beekeeping tradition and environment will be an added value not only in the project area but also will be added as a part of the country initiative to protect the environment and help in global crises that the world is facing.
Previous generations have shown a very special care for the bee by inheriting this tradition from generation to generation. Long ago honey was harvested in two phases where the first phase was defined as flower honey and the second phase as oregano honey and this was quite clearly reflected in the honey color and taste. Beekeeping, the environment and the difficulties they face today
Today beekeeping faces a number of difficulties and one of the main elements is the environment and nature. Today people by not paying attention to nature make air pollution negatively affect bee livelihood. The bee is quite selective towards flowers and the environment where it requires a lot of cleanliness. If the surrounding environment is polluted the bee dies. In recent years elder people notice a very big difference from previous years and often times express if the bee disappears there is no life. If in previous years they did not use any kind of medicine for the protection of bees nowadays, they are obliged to buy the necessary medicines to fight various diseases faced by bees. The environment has undergone many changes. if previously the lands were cultivated where the vegetation flourished, today they have turned into lawns where the grass like clover has started to disappear, the trees like linden have been cut indiscriminately by human hands. The summer season has changed as it has become a fairly dry season and this negatively affects bees.
What I have learned through all these years from the bees I want to share that with children because I am very sure that learning in the early age about the bees, preserving the tradition and taking care of the environment will make these children better grown up, with the love for the bees’ community tradition and environment.
In the project the main stakeholders that have been engaged in the project were: Local :Regional Directory of Education, Regional Directory of Environment, Beekeeping expert, National: Video-maker expert which helped the children to gain knowledge in technology and creating a video content. The teachers and the community were engaged during the implementation phase of the project.

Teaching the children to love what is their culture and tradition is a huge step towards the begging of learning on preserving what is inherited from generation to generation. Another initiative that its needed to be highlight is the component community which will be part of the project and will share will the new generation not only their knowledge but mostly the way of living, the protection of the environment, by remembering the past to build a better future together.
The project is designed that all the component of it can be replicated or transfer in other places, groups of beneficiaries and contexts. This project can be easily replicated not only in different parts of Albania like the urban or rural areas but also it can be transferred and implemented in the Balkan countries either. If the project will be eligible for the price the project will be implanting in another area which include Saranda to Konispol. During the summer months this areas are suffering from the pollution, acoustic pollution and garbage pollution. The awareness and the engagement of community of these areas is really important as a driven factor in the support of the climate changes and the small steps that we can do together to change and to educate the future generations.

Beekeeping is a very important component in the life of the planet and people. The bees are the one community that are struggling in this climate changes. During these 10 years, the tradition of beekeeping in Albania has become less and less part of Albanian families. Due to climate changes a lot of families have lost the tradition of beekeeping, one of the important thing is that the environment is polluted which really affect the life of the bees. In this project is tackled the beekeeping and the importance of environment. Different trainings with teachers and children will be conducted about the awareness of beekeeping and the environment.
