This will be a kind of bridge between generations in the attitude to nature, which has been expressed as a philosophy in folk creativity, and in our modern times it is expressed in responsible behavior of every citizen in rational use of resources, circular economy, nature-friendly behavior and active civic monitoring of the implemented policies. The two traditional international forums related to the Pan-Slav cultural and historical heritage — the Bulgariada Festival and a scientific round table dedicated to the stay of Paisii Hilendarski in the town of Sremski Karlovitsi, connecting the history of Bulgarians and Serbs, will be held.

Some of the activities included in the initiative are spontaneously initiated by local communities with ethnic Bulgarian population in the Republic of Serbia and have established themselves in time as attractive models for preservation and transmission between generations of traditions, folklore, customs. They demonstrate the region’s cultural and natural diversity and the creative richness and beauty of the region and unite communities in their pursuit of cohesion, cooperation and sustainability.
Among them are: The festival “Bulgariada” — related to the Pan-Slav Cultural and Historical Heritage, the Scientific Round Table dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage connecting Bulgarians and Serbs during the stay of Paisii Hilendarski in the town of Sremski Karlovitsi.
The creation of a museum of folklore costumes in the community center in Panchevo is an expression of the desire of the local community to preserve its cultural identity. The company traditionally holds Martenitsa Days and Shop Salad Festival.
The new activities offer inclusion and access to the general public. Among them are the trainings in the field of folklore — dances, songs, national cuisine, as well as free training courses in Bulgarian language, informal trainings on the topic “Sustainability”, using a multidisciplinary approach and popularising local folklore, traditions, folk beliefs, customs, traditions, traditions and their relationship with nature.
Applying the inclusive nature of non-formal education will form an active civic commitment to the preservation of the region’s cultural and natural heritage. The participants’ engagement, participation, empowerment, tolerance and European affiliation will be encouraged.
The activities are carried out in partnership between 3 organisations and increase the capacity of the civil sector to use cultural institutions and cultural heritage and resources for inclusive policies and sustainability.
The project aims to build on the results of traditionally conducted initiatives from the Bulgarian communities living in Serbia, united by the desire to preserve the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, historical and natural heritage, through folklore, cultural, scientific and educational events, attracting international participation and various stakeholders NGOs, local authorities, cultural institutions, scientists, media, citizens.
Through the activities the national Bulgarian minority in R Serbia retains its cultural identity. Recreates customs and traditions in the form of influential community holidays. This increases the civic activity and engagement of communities in the implementation of important initiatives for them. An example can be given the initiative, which will turn part of the community center in Panchevo into a museum of Bulgarian folklore costumes. The collection of authentic Bulgarian costumes, which will be displayed will be carried out by the company, which includes about 300 regular members from the compact Bulgarian population in the town of Panchevo, with the assistance of partner organisations and from Bulgaria. It will create prerequisites for building and expanding the cooperation between municipal cultural institutions in the implementation of joint activities with local NGOs.
These initiatives demonstrate the understanding, cohesion, cultural tolerance and inclusion of the national Bulgarian minority living in the Republic of Serbia.
The initiative will be supported by the National Council of the Bulgarian National Minority, which is the highest representative body of Bulgarians in the Republic of Serbia. The National Council represents the national minority in the fields of education, culture, information in the language of national minorities and official use of language and letter.
The activities will help to draw the attention of municipal authorities to the new opportunities offered by cooperation with EU countries
In the implementation of the activities included in the initiative, the principles of inclusive education in the direction of preservation of the cultural, historical and natural heritage will be applied. Tolerance and the formation of a sense of European belonging among participants and communities will be promoted by applying multidisciplinary innovative approaches encompassing culture, arts, language, literature, history, civic education, ecology, economics.
All initiatives have a cultural focus. The various arts are widely present and create aesthetic experiences, both for the audience, as well as for performers and authors. These arts are folklore music, songs, dances performed by professionals and amateur performers and groups. They are included in the Festival “Bulgariada”, the traditional folklore festival with a play “Golden accordion”, informal trainings covering areas of folk art — folklore dances and songs. The celebration of martenitsa and the making of mummer masks are associated with applied fine art.
The creation of a museum of folklore costumes will preserve part of the material cultural heritage and will promote Bulgarian culture and history. The scientific round table dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage connecting Bulgarians and Serbs during Paisiy Hilendarski’s stay in the town of Sremski Karlovitsi will be oriented to the same areas and to the language and literature.
Cultural-folklore events will contribute to the preservation and promotion of Bulgarian traditions among the Bulgarian national minority in Panchevo and South Banat, will create an opportunity for local communities to get acquainted with the elements of the Bulgarian cultural and folklore tradition and folk customs. The initiative strengthens cooperation between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Serbia through the initiatives of the Bulgarian national minority in Vojvodina for the preservation of family ties, Bulgarian traditions and folklore.
The activities involved in the initiative are interlinked. Innovation consists of applying a multidisciplinary approach and using the inclusive nature of non-formal education to form a civic commitment to the preservation of the cultural and natural heritage of the region, cooperation, cohesion and inclusion, using the educating aesthetic impact of different types of art embodied in the rich Bulgarian folklore, traditionally reflecting and important place of nature in people’s lives.
The innovativeness of the initiative is also in the possibilities for it to be applied by different communities, given that the folklore of different nationalities and ethnicities reflects the richness of culture, traditions and history of peoples and gives a special place to nature, expressed in different traditions, customs, rites and beliefs. Folklore reflects elements of culture and contributes to historical development, preserving identity. As diverse as the folklore of the peoples is, it reveals common features and understandings. Folklore is a bearer of history, culture, experience and knowledge of nature and the world. The relationship between the views, understandings and attitudes of the generations before us to culture, arts and nature awakens interest and builds the attitudes of our modern societies to values such as cultural tolerance, diversity, belonging and the pursuit of sustainability, as conditions for achieving a more inclusive and good future.
The mechanisms of the initiative to implement innovative multidisciplinary approaches that engage communities towards the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, historical and natural heritage, through folklore, cultural, scientific and educational events and engagement of various stakeholders NGOs, local authorities, cultural institutions, scientists, media, citizens in building partnerships, have universal applicability and could be widely used.
The demonstrated opportunities of the inclusiveness of informal education, which are present in the various activities and form an active civic commitment to the preservation of the cultural and natural heritage of the region, could also be applied in the practice of many organisations.
The initiatives demonstrate the need of national minorities to preserve their identity through events involving folklore, art, culture and traditions. Promote mechanisms in which these initiatives are supported by local authorities and cultural institutions and allow for a tolerant, diverse and enriching cultural and educational environment. These are positive examples of forming a sense of belonging through cohesion and unity in culture and diversity.
Promoting and building on the results of initiatives achieved by communities united by the pursuit of a more sustainable and inclusive future demonstrates in practice the dimension of the three related values: sustainability, inclusion and aesthetics and quality of experience. The initiative promotes civic engagement, empowerment, tolerance and European affiliation, in this sense it is capable of multiplying effect and impact.
The activities included in the initiative create prerequisites for building and expanding cooperation and good neighbourliness both between the cohabiting Serbian and Bulgarian communities, as well as for strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries, through participation in different folklore festivals and other events
Bulgarian National Minority “Shopsko Oro” — a leading partner (an organisation authorised to represent the initiative) applies to the project “Studes of the Bulgarian National Minority” in the initiative “Sanchevo” to the Bulgarian National Minority “Shopsko Oro” Panchevo “drustvo za bugarski jezik, knjizevnost i kulturu” Novi sad and Dom kulture “Zarko Zrenjanin” Ivanovo signed a framework agreement regulating the rights and obligations of the parties in connection with the preparation and participation in the implementation of the initiative. The aim of the agreement is to effectively prepare and implement the proposed project, with which the Association
The attached agreement regulates the rights and obligations of the parties in the performance of their obligations under the Agreement, specifies the activities to be carried out, distributed among the partners, the costs of carrying out the activities, the mechanism for setting up the project management team, including the participation of representatives of the three partner organisations, as well as the means of communication. The signed Partnership Agreement describes the methodology for implementing the initiative and ensures the effective implementation of the activities and the promotion of results.
In the implementation of the initiative, the three participating organisations will use their experience gained during the traditionally held events covered by the initiative and will exchange best practices applied in the implementation of the activities.
The principles of inclusive education at local level will be applied towards a civic commitment to the preservation of the cultural, historical and natural heritage. The project focuses on the global challenges such as the lack of tolerance, discrimination, social exclusion, by demonstrating positive examples achieved at local level, which allowed successful inclusion and participation in the public life of the Bulgarian national minority living in the Republic of Serbia, supported in its cultural initiatives by the local authorities and cultural institutions. The activities carried out support the formation of a sense of European belonging, respect for diversity and cultural identity by creating a supportive and enriching environment, through the impact of art and folklore.
All initiatives promote interest in and preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The various arts are widely present and satisfy the need for aesthetic experiences. The initiative allows overcoming the restrictions related to ensuring equal access to culture and art for all groups of society, by demonstrating mechanisms allowing the inclusion of audiences from different social groups in cultural events, folklore festivals, scientific forums and informal trainings.
Strengthening the activity of local communities and civic engagement, especially young people, in the preservation of the cultural and natural heritage of the regions, cooperation, cohesion and inclusion are challenges for which the initiative will demonstrate mechanisms involving the educational aesthetic impact of different types of art through rich folklore. A parallel will be drawn between the folklore traditions and customs of the different ethnic groups — Bulgarians and Serbs, and their connection with different natural phenomena. This will be a kind of bridge between generations in the attitude towards nature.
Some of the included “soft” activities are initiated and traditionally conducted by local communities, attract many participants from neighboring countries and have established themselves in time as attractive models for preservation and transmission between generations of traditions, folklore, customs. They demonstrate the region’s cultural and natural diversity and the creative richness and beauty of the region and unite communities in their pursuit of cohesion, cooperation and sustainability.
Traditionally carried out initiatives: Festival “Bulgariada” — an international forum related to the pan-Slavic cultural and historical heritage, Scientific Round Table dedicated to the cultural and historical heritage connecting Bulgarians and Serbs, Festival of Shop Salad, Folklore Festival “Golden accordion” demonstrate the need of national minorities to preserve their identity through events including folklore, art, culture and traditions. Promote mechanisms in which these initiatives are supported by local authorities and cultural institutions and allow for a tolerant, diverse and enriching cultural and educational environment.
The proposed new activities to be included in the initiative, together with the traditionally held events by the participating organisations, are detailed in the project implementation plan of the initiative. It describes the activities that will be implemented in practice in the coming year, the partners that will implement them, a brief description, duration, venue, etc.
