Biodegradable biomaterials in industrial and product design .Biodegradable waste products.
Using coffee waste and implementing new ways of inovationdesign of products:
    Coffee, cardboard and wood
1.biomaterial for everyday objects (dishes, furniture), 2) biodiesel and 3) dust pellets.
The whole process ensures that the waste does not end up in a landfill but becomes a
salable product. We prevent C02, CH4 from polluting the atmosphere. We encourage people not to throw
away their waste/to see the potential in waste. We work in the field of circular industry, we
    do not produce waste.

  • Description of the concept
This project is innovative use of biomaterials in product and industrial design. We are implementing new use of coffee waste for producing products that are made of plastic and wood. From product packing in every day use to industrial design in furniture fields. Our concept will be implemented first in our town than hopefully will be implemented regional.
We prevent C02, CH4 from polluting the atmosphere. We encourage people not to throw away their waste/to see the potential in waste. We work in the field of circular industry, we do not produce waste. The product is biodegradable: it only takes a few months to decompose. After this researching of material we are starting to produce products.

    global warming
    air pollution
If all the estimated 18 million tons of wet spent sediment
left to decompose naturally, more than 2.3 would be released annually
billions of cubic meters of methane – which is a global warming effect that
is equal to the total annual CO2 emission of France.
The huge amount of coffee residues that is created annually requires a waste management
plan through changing the regulations on waste disposal, while in the beginning it would
have been done in accordance with the existing regulations.
Coffee has a high caloric value, which means that our tests have shown that a coffee heater
burns longer and more intensely than wood. Regarding ash, the research showed excellent
characteristics, with values not exceeding 1.3%, which is significantly below the range of 2-
4% of the usual solid biomass.Biodegradable waste products:
    Coffee, cardboard and wood
    1) biomaterial for everyday objects (dishes, furniture), 2) biodiesel and 3) dust pellets.
So far, our materials and products have not been released for sale.
The whole process ensures that the waste does not end up in a landfill but becomes a
    salable product.
The potential is immense. The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina know very little about the
subject of biomaterials, and we plan to educate them about new, healthy materials that
they can use in their households.
In this way, we influence positive social changes. We will intensify the education that is
already in progress (lectures, workshops and exhibitions in relevant institutions, with
partners of interest, online and live) so that an increasing number of people get to know
new possibilities in the materials industry.
Positive effects on everyone involved (employees, partners, citizens, public opinion).
By developing economical products that are for the benefit of everyone, thinking and acting
environmentally conscious, we believe that after patenting and successful first realizations,
in the long term this project will easily gain global significance. We estimate that the initial
step (development of the model in the premises) is the most exhaustive, and that the
implementation in the region, as well as in Europe and around the world (planned targeting)
will be a natural sequence of sustainability.
The local community will be involved in the development of the project on four levels:
    • Citizens will have a place to hand in their own coffee waste, for which they will receive
vouchers for discounts on our products. They will be able to visit the "factory", physically
and online, to get an insight into the production.
    • We will incorporate the established network of associates from cafeterias, cafes,
restaurants and hotels with bonuses that will give them benefits within their organization
for a certain amount of clean sediment brought in, and these organizations will receive
    discounts on products as partners.

    • Individuals who present our products or any stage of production in an attractive and
activist manner on social networks will be included in the planned high-visibility crowd
    funding campaigns.
As a result of ecological and economic changes, the demand for energy sources that are
available and desirable is growing, and the economic satisfaction of the needs of the local
population would be very empowering. It is clear that any reduction in pollution is of
multiple importance for individuals, the community, and all beings on the planet
The social impact of a company that works with biodegradable biomaterials to make these
kinds of objects is significant. Not only is this approach more sustainable than using non-
biodegradable materials such as plastics, but it also helps reduce the amount of waste sent
to landfills. Such an approach can also help create a healthier living environment as
biodegradable materials do not pose a health hazard from the potentially harmful chemicals
released from non-biodegradable materials. Additionally, the use of biodegradable
biomaterials for furniture can lead to a reduction in carbon emissions as it reduces the need
for resource consumption and energy use in manufacturing. Utilizing this approach, then,
can help promote long-term environmental sustainability initiatives and aid in the
    protection of our planet.
    The stakeholders
First will be coffee places that will give us their waste of coffee, and the people that we will include will be the local organisation for people with disabilities to collect the coffee waste around the town. After we implement the project in our town we will work on changing the local law about separating the garbage.Specially the coffee waste that is biomaterial.Regulation of separating garbage on regional level after first year we will work on spreading on national level.
The employed or engaged will be experts in the fields of biodesign, technology, engineering,
biology, new media, economy, entrepreneurship, representation and distribution.
Multidisciplinarity distinguishes our potential (located) collaborators, and one person will
have the knowledge and skills of several professions.
We are committed to respecting the intersectionality of our associates and future
employees. This is a condition for a creative flow of ideas. We will especially focus on
engaging people with special needs (dust collection at partner points, work on technological
machines that are not demanding to operate and are safe).
We will primarily employ 3 local experts, and with time and development of all activities, we
    plan to employ 10 employees.
Our work will require completely new ways of working and education: it will require
technologists, engineers, biologists to think innovatively.
Coffee is a big part of our culture. The tradition dates back to Ottoman times. Coffee is
usually drunk several times during the day. 25 million tons are imported annually.
In 2022, 130.9 million KM worth of coffee was imported into Bosnia and Herzegovina. What
happens to coffee grounds after use? Usually, spent coffee grounds are thrown into general
waste and sent to a landfill where they release methane, a greenhouse gas that is 25 times
stronger than carbon dioxide over a 100-year period, and is one of the primary causes of
global warming, and takes 3 to 6 months. to decompose that same sediment. This innovative design will bring a huge impact for every society that drinks a coffee.Coffee has a high caloric value, which means that our tests have shown that a coffee heater burns longer and more intensely than wood. Regarding ash, the research showed excellent characteristics, with values not exceeding 1.3%, which is significantly below the range of 2-4% of the usual solid biomass. If all the estimated 18 million tons of wet spent sediment

Products that we make will hopefully replace the plastic products and low down the wood use for fabricating furniture.
