    Be My Hero is the service that connects superheroes with families who wants a home visit from their favorite child's superhero.
    The whole world needs heroes! We bring them directly to your door.

  • Description of the concept
    Be My Hero is the marketplace service that connects:
    - university students/cosplayers/unemployed people or whoever looking for extra income (we call HEROES)
    with
    - FAMILIES that would love to receive a home visit from their child's favorite superhero/princess.

    When a family looks for a superhero using our app, they will see all the superheroes registered in Be My Hero available for the day they selected in the geographical zone where the family is located.

    After many years as teenagers spent dressing up like Santa Clause on Christmas Eve, we asked ourselves... how many families would pay a small amount to have a home visit from their favorite child's superhero? We now know the precise number.
    Before starting the project we asked 1000 mothers and fathers if they would like to have a visit at home from their children's favorite superhero and how much they would be willing to spend. The outcome is that 727 families out of 1000 answered positively with an average price of €50.
    We analyzed also the market. The kid's leisure time is a market that is only in Italy worth €3,3B. Based on statistical research, kids' leisure time is one of the expense types that families do more willingly. In Italy, there are 5M 3-11 y.o. children but our focus is not on Italy. We're already looking at the European market with 65M 3-11 y.o. children.
    After only 1 month since we launched the website, we already have 70 heroes registered and ready to start the home visits (without any advertising investment, so it means that the market react quickly to this opportunity).

    With the unemployment rate that is keeping rising, we're sure that many people would consider picking a carnival costume and getting extra revenue bringing joy to children and other people. We spread joy, and we make child's dreams come true - that's our mission, and we want to accomplish that by giving to HEROES and all the people who need it an extra possible source of income.

    We're building a concept where Families can look for Heroes that are within their geographical range, reducing unemployment and giving everybody the possibility of work by creating and spreading joy and happiness.

    We believe that we can be part of the Bauhaus mindset for the inclusivity of our project and the concrete impact it can bring to people.
    Based on recent surveys more than 80% of parents are more willing to spend money on their child's experiences rather than toys.

    Houses are full of material toys that children use only a few minutes after receiving them and then forget forever being accumulated in a room until the parents trash them away.

    We want to change this concept and slow down the material present by offering a present that can be much more appreciated by a child and give him a unique experience and magic moment that he will never forget in his life.

    Our service is not polluting at all, the only thing it spreads is joy and disincentives the compulsive production and purchase of material toys by providing a concrete alternative.
    We're working to create a service that offers magic moments in people's life. We want to be sure that each home visit is a special moment so that's why we created a "visit guideline policy" that all our Heroes must respect when they go to people's houses in order to be sure that the service is perfect. We also take pictures of the Hero and the child during the visit, and we send the pics to them after the visit.
    We really want that Be My Hero brings a touch of magic into people's life.

    As mentioned above Be My Hero has the ambition to be an inclusive concept that serves the community by the service of the community people.
    Be My Hero can partner also with municipalities for example by offering Heroes dressed as Santa Claus to deliver presents to all the child in the community on Christmas Eve, or sending Santa Claus to shopping malls to receive all the child's letters.
    These are just few examples of how our projects can really bring concrete benefits to all the community.
    Is an inclusive project in both senses:
    - everybody can be a Hero and cooperate with the project;
    - everybody can get a home visit making a surprise to their child (and for poor families is free!).
    We believe that Be My Hero brings many different services and real impacts on daily people's lives and communities.
    Just to mention some examples of important topics:
    - UNEMPLOYMENT - Be My Hero fight unemployment by giving everyone the chance to grab a costume and get in on the action;
    - EXTRA INCOME - University students, your people, or whoever is looking for extra income can have an easy way to make an extra source of income by simply deciding when to be available for home visits.
    - CLOWNTERAPHY - We want to have a real impact on the world, that's why we're already working on a plan to send our Heroes to hospitals for clown-teraphy for free with reward options or reimbursement in a mix of work and voluntary service. We want to do our part to make the world a better place and we have all the intentions to do it.
    - POOR FAMILIES - For families with a particularly low income we'll send superheroes at our costs, because not only rich people should have the possibility to live the magic experience of meeting their favorite superhero. Dreaming is everyone's right and we want to make it possible.
    - COOPERATION WITH UNIVERSITIES - Universities are always trying to push their students to make some volunteering experiences during their studying career. We already opened some discussions with universities to include Be My Hero in the volunteering service list of activities to get some extra credits by offering their services to hospitals for clown-therapy or poor families.
    The whole project had been developed by our team, without any kind of support from external stakeholders from the moment.

BE MY HERO started from this question... to which we are trying to give an answer with so much passion.

    The Be My Hero Team is composed by multidisciplinary, young people with different backgrounds and skills.
    I'm the founder and I've always tried to push myself out of my comfort zone, trying new experiences and facing new challenges continuously during my life.
    Different environments, different cities where to live, and different friends.
    I have contacts all around the world, people I like to call friends I met during these years and kept in contact with. I like to believe that we're strong as the number of problems we can solve simply by picking up the phone and calling a friend. Based on that belief, I've always pushed myself to expand my network.
    During my university years, I challenged myself with 5 experiences abroad (always funded by scholarship): London, Barcelona, Munich, Warsaw, and Tokyo. Of course, changing all these different environments with always new challenges has not been always easy but gave me the ability to deal with changes and feel comfortable with uncertainties. Besides that, all these experiences and (a lot of studies!) made me fluent in 4 languages, which are actually really useful at my current job. During my first year in university, I attended a startup building class. Starting from that moment, I've had always a clear what my goal was. I wanted to build my own startup and make it grow on an international scale.

    When I decided to launch Be My Hero I started looking for co-funders and I create a team of incredible people experts in software development and marketing.

    Our mix of competences is a good combination to create something that can really bring a concrete impact on the world!
    At the moment, there is not in the market a centralized platform offering this service.
    The market is crowded with small local entertainment agencies operating on a local scale. Our objective is not to compete with them, but to cooperate with them. Is already available in our portal for Heroes registration to register as a "company" and not as a "private". So basically the local entertainment agencies can gain visibility using our service.

    Be My Hero is something completely innovative and a new concept that we have the ambition and folly to expand worldwide!
    Our concept, which we're launching now in Italy because is our home country, is fully scalable and replicable in all the countries of the world.
    Of course, each country has its own peculiarities and particular laws in terms of labor regulation but besides that aspect, once we're compliant with country labor requirements, I don't see many barriers to the internationalization of Be My Hero.
    Be My Hero is a particular concept that is able to act globally but stay local.
    This is because our algorithm matches Families looking for a hero from a certain geographical zone only with Heroes coming from that specific zone. So basically we try to bring to Families of certain community Heroes that belong to the same community.
    Besides that, we're implementing many other services that we want to add to our core project. Here few examples:
    • video call between the superhero and the child;
    • video recorded from the superhero to the child (such as for birthday wishes);
    • clown therapy service in hospitals in partnership with universities (the idea is that university students can gain a few CFU and add the voluntary service experience to their CV by doing some clown therapy visits in child's hospitals);
    • we want to partner with carnival costumes e-commerce where Heroes registered in Be My Hero can buy costumes at a discounted premium price and we earn a commission for each costume sold to our Heroes;
    • Gadget delivery - we can perform some cross-selling activities with for example the superhero handing over his "sword" to the child during the home visit for €20 more for example;
    • B2B contracts with shopping malls and events to send our Heroes;

    We believe that our project can fall into the Bauhaus principles due to the concrete impact we want to bring to the communities and the whole world! Our final ambition is to become a benefit company.
