Sketching Tirana's old neighborhoods, in the eyes of students and artists and citizens.
The streets and neighborhoods in Tirana are constantly changing ,so let's capture the frame in a piece of paper, as a memory, capturing moments that might soon be gone. Artists, students and everyone who sketch, draw or illustrate are going to walk through the city to draw and sketch Tirana in 2023. The main focus is to hold an art exhibition and from auction sales of sketches and donations, we can improve a neighborhood with a children's playground or other facilities .

The main capital of Albania, Tirana , the old party of Tirana ‘’Mehalla’’and nearby rural areas.

It refers to other types of transformations (soft investment)
The neighborhoods in developing countries like Albania are constantly changing and losing identity, especially in Tirana. Residents of the neighborhoods together with students and mentor artists will do sketches of their old neighborhoods. The goal is to create an artistic memory of the neighborhoods of Tirana by capturing the moments of life and documenting it. Not only will this project help to preserve the city’s identity and culture, but it will also create an opportunity for residents to express their thoughts and feelings about the changes happening in their neighborhoods. The project is planned for a duration of 5 months, located in several main neighborhoods of Tirana, mainly the old Mehalla and rural areas like Shen Gjergji, Pellumbas, Dajt ect. In this exploration of the areas, we will point out the neighborhoods that have the most shortages, mostly in children's parks or other facilities. Residents will also be asked what would make their neighborhood better by visualize it, draw it and why not turn it into reality one day.
The process will initially focus on the selection of 3 mentoring supervisors artists, the selection of 30 students of arts and architecture and the participation is open for any resident, children, women, elderly ages who will join.
These sketches, drawings, and illustrations will be used to create an art exhibit, with the main aim of raising funds to improve the city’s neighborhoods. This mission will focus on creating a children’s playground, as well as other essential facilities. Participants will be encouraged to use their creativity to show the city as it was before, as it is now, and as they want it to be, before the big changes that come with the passage of time. It is a unique opportunity for individuals to contribute to the development of the city, and to turn Tirana into a more vibrant and prosperous place.

The main objectives of this project are to document the neighborhoods of Tirana through art and to bring people together, creating a common sense of community. Art can be used as an effective tool to bring people together and foster a sense of unity among them. By introducing art initiatives for the local community, we are not only creating a sense of belonging but also promoting a sustainable model of art. Through art, every person - resident, citizen, student and artist alike - can be united by a shared goal. The key objectives of this project are to create a direct and positive environmental change and to sustain it for the long-term. The artistry of each individual participating in this project is truly unique, as no two roads, sketches or citizens will be the same. This is what makes this project so special, as there has never been an entire project dedicated to the outline drawings of Tirana that exists in public collections.
The goal is to create a community, the citizens simply take lessons in how to draw with certain tactics at the moment from professionals, they will be creative, there is a spirit of cooperation, sharing experiences, memories and nostalgia. Creation of new companies. Knowledge of parts of cities, old neighborhoods, old buildings. Positive emotions, pleasure, creativity and knowledge are conveyed. Creating sketches and drawings is a task that requires time, patience, and dedication. In order to reach this goal, citizens must be given the opportunity to learn how to draw with the help of professionals. This will not only nurture their creativity but also encourage a spirit of cooperation and shared experiences. The knowledge of parts of cities, old neighborhoods, and old buildings can also be passed on through drawing lessons. Positive emotions, pleasure, creativity, and knowledge will be conveyed through the drawing experience. This can have a positive impact on the community, allowing for the physical and tangible creation of something unique and special. In addition, aesthetics and quality of experience for people can be improved through drawing. This can provide cultural benefits and bring about positive emotions. Design, color schemes, and other artistic elements can also be used to enhance the visual appeal of the drawings. In other words, drawing can be used as a tool to bring about meaningful and lasting change in the community.
The call for citizens of Tirana is open without any specific criteria in order to ensure accessibility and affordability for all to be included. In addition, I will create a group of 30 students of arts and architecture who will be distributed in the city to offer tutoring and mentorship from mentor artists. The artists will send some previous urban artwork in advance while the citizens who join along the way will be free to join and guided by the mentor artists. This initiative aims to help bring art and culture to the citizens of Tirana in an inclusive way. Allowing citizens to sketch the neighborhood they live in is certainly a unique and special opportunity. Not only does it offer accessibility and affordability for all to express themselves creatively, but it also provides an inclusive platform for all citizens to showcase the positives and negatives of their neighborhood. This will result in an improved dialogue between the residents, local authorities and other stakeholders, leading to greater collaboration in making our neighborhoods a better place.
By practicing their art and expressing their abilities, artists and students of the art of architecture have been able to promote talent, advance knowledge, and teach others. Residents have been able to benefit from this knowledge, learning techniques that they can use to reveal their neighborhoods, problems, life, pleasures, and memories. This has enabled citizens to be involved in the revitalization of their neighborhoods, having the opportunity to create new playgrounds, as well as being informed about events from the past, present and future. Ultimately, this will result in citizens benefiting from or affected by the concept and civil society being able to have access to knowledge about cities of 2023 through publication of booklets or online publications and other current or future citizen media. Furthermore, an exhibit with their work will be open to the public to enable them to appreciate their contribution.
To engage different stakeholders in the design and implementation of the project, mentor artists can be brought on board to teach how to draw and sketch. Residents are given the opportunity to express their old memories, as well as their visions for the future of their neighborhoods. Students can practice their abilities and talents and help residents draw. Television and social media can transmit the residents' voice in drawing by supporting the local neighborhoods and artists. This in turn, helps in promoting the project and fund-raising. Public institutions, should consider even the opinions of the inhabitants when they make drastic changes in their habitat, in the way they conceive neighborhoods, can facilitate the process of creating a playground in the case of buildings where society does not communicate.
Our project concept encompasses a wide array of disciplines and knowledge fields such as art, drawing, illustration and design, making the process unique and expressive. The art exhibition will promote our citizens' works and an online donations platform will be created to raise funds for the children's playground. By combining these two aspects, we will be able to bring about both social and design benefits. The added value is in the combination of all these elements, which will create an effective way of promoting artwork while also supporting a great cause.
Three artist mentors will be chosen through a competition of their artworks amongst thirty students of art and architecture, in order to foster innovation and inclusion of talented youth. The participation of residents is open and all inhabitants of the neighborhood are included without consideration of gender or age.
Mainstream action to bring about a sense of unity and belonging when people can draw and envision their familiar old neighborhoods or their improved and more desirable ones.
The city of Tirana is home to a multitude of neighborhoods, each with its own unique identity and culture. In order to bring change and improvement to a single neighborhood, a series of initiatives have been proposed. These include creating a published book and holding an exhibition and an auction sale.
The target group for this project is the citizens of the neighborhood, artists, and students of Tirana. As part of the project, a tour of the neighborhood will be organized to provide the students with an insight into the culture and lifestyle of their neighborhood.
In order to create the book, a collection of drawings, sketches and other works will be made. These will be selected for both the exhibition and the publication, with the author's name accompanying the published pieces. The exhibition and the publication will serve as a fundraising event, with a physical and an online auction being held alongside it.
Finally, a playground will be developed in the neighborhood, providing a safe and secure play area for the children of the area. This will provide them with a much needed space for play and recreation, as well as allowing them to develop their skills and complement their education.
The art of drawing and sketching can be done by anyone, and each neighborhood of the city can have a positive influence on its surroundings through drawing and visualizing. This concept addresses global challenges such as overpopulation and increasing social inequality by providing local solutions. Small investments in older neighborhoods can make life easier for those who do not wish to move to large urban centers, and can help to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas.
Art has the power to bridge divides, giving people from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to come together. It is one of the key objectives of this project to foster a sense of unity and sustainability, and art can be a powerful tool in this regard. By making art accessible to everyone, we can bring people together in a way that inspires collaboration, creativity, and connection.
