The site for this project was originally a Royal Air Force airstrip that was used during WW2 and was handed over to the Maltese Government in 1968.
The park had fallen into some disrepair and was extensively refurbished as part of a larger project for the Ta’ Qali Park.
The works included the upgrading of the Amentity Building which houses the cafeteria and public toilets, structural repair of the terrace surrounding the building, roof waterproofing, refurbishment of the toilets, new signage, the installation of a new drainage system and the installation of PVs on the roof of the building .
All existing footpaths, wooden structures and the water features of the Park have been maintained.
New energy efficient water pumps and lighting system have been installed. Free wifi points have been provided for the users of the Park.
All the damaged play equipment was replaced with new equipment and new safety surfacing was installed.
The landscaping and irrigation system was also upgraded and several new trees were planted. Educational play equipment that encourages children to explore mathematical and scientific concepts have been installed.
Special attention is being given to regular maintenance and security and dedicated personnel have been engaged to look after the premises together with a Park manages.
