We are creating an Artistic Residency and a Rice School, in order to bring Art closer to the Community and to preserve, expand and revalue the agricultural and gastronomic culture of Calasparra Rice, the first Rice in the world with Denomination of Origin. A space for creation, training and learning, in an emblematic centenary house, Casa las Hoyicas, 7 km. from the town, on the banks of the Segura river and with 5 Hc. dedicated to the cultivation of rice. The house will be reoriented to cultural use and implemented through bioconstruction and renewable and ecological technologies. We want to create a space open to the Community, for participation and activation, for intergenerational, inclusive and sustainable training. In this space and rice landscape, we will create a project that covers two lines of action:
1) The Rice School in Summer. He will give training courses on the cultivation process, the particularities of the ecosystem that are generated in the rice fields, gastronomy, Crafts and other products derived from rice, in order to transmit the ancestral wisdom of our people. The Calasparra rice fields are an example from sustainable cultivation in an ecological environment, with ancestral techniques, water is extracted from the river and return the excess water to the river.
2) The artistic residency. In Winter, to inspire introspection. The emerging artists, participating in the Residences, will be summoned, according to the different disciplines, through the Departments of Culture, art schools of the Region, Spain and International, as well as the Master Artists who will guide the creative process. During their stay, they will participate in the life and daily life of the town, contributing their knowledge and inspiration, sharing their experience and art with schools and nursing homes with talks and workshops. With this project we want to unite people around the river that gives us life and prosperity. Loving Nature is the best way to protect it

That will be an unforgettable experience for residents.

-The transfer of knowledge is intergenerational.
-We incorporate new energy and bioconstruction technologies respecting the identity of the house.
- Inside the Artist Residence and the Rice School, the inclusion of people with special needs is encouraged, creating specific courses and strategies for their integration and development.
The methodology will be participatory and interactive: through experiential and sensitizing workshops on the environment and individual and collective action.
Collaborative and interdisciplinary: through different artistic disciplines, local culture, transmission of transgenerational knowledge and the different knowledge provided by traditional trades in the area. uniting education and transmitted experiences.
Coherent and simple: generating positive experiences, connected with nature, with well-being, with a focus on the common good and that contribute to permanent learning regarding sustainable and environmental education.
-The ecological transition, as a transversal part of education and training activities, and of the permanent experiences that are generated at home.
-The sustainability. Through bioconstruction, recycling and the incorporation of clean technologies and energy, in order to modify consumption patterns and contribute to a more ecological future.
-Equity and Inclusion, with the creation of workshops of different disciplines, free, with open doors, and the artists of the residence will share their creative processes with the schools/schools and residences for the elderly and groups with special needs of the town.
