    Metamorphosis
Metamorphosis- Organic pigments and essential oil blenders for artists
The project is based on the idea to produce a palette of primary and secondary natural and organic color pigments for painting and series of several essential oils that would bind the pigment and help the pigment's paint last longer and smell good. The healing properties of both the natural/organic pigments and the essential oils are inevitable. The product can be used by students, artists, amateurs, people with congenital disabilities, art-therapists and art institutions.

  • Description of the concept
The project Metamorphosis is based on the idea of creating a new (painting) language in the world of colors and pigments from a technical and technological point of view. Through careful selection and obtaining of finely processed powdered pigment made from several types of flowers, fruits, fruit peels, types of earth/soil, etc., stored in suitable hermetic containers, the second step to bring the pigments to a painting is by combining them with naturally obtained binders, also derived from plants and organic solvents (alcohol/ essential oil). It is necessary to produce several types of binders that will correspond to the composition of natural pigments (because not every pigment (pigment source) corresponds and dissolves in the same binder composition). *For example: orange peel pigment + orange essential oil as binder + additional preservatives for color longevity (up to 2% maximum). Apart from the visual senses, colors will also activate the smelling senses. The focus of the project is to find a suitable replacement for the binders used in painting, especially in oil techniques, which in its formulation often includes turpentine, casein or thinner - agents with a high degree of toxicity and represent a health risk, especially for the respiratory organs and the sight of the users. Essential oils, on the other hand, have a pleasant, healing, calming and meditative effect on human health. These pigments could be used by students, artists with impaired respiratory organs/impaired vision (sight), as art therapy and for all of those who enjoy an innovative and eco-friendly approach to their art/hobby. The project is not fully formulated. Support from greater research potential is needed (laboratory, conservators and restorers, pigment processing equipment and distillers for obtaining essential oils to be used as binders). "Metamorphosis" -as a metaphor for human metamorphosis and transformation according to the example and order given by nature.
    Sustainability

    Product
The goal of the project is to take only those natural resources that are not good for man, anymore, or in any way. A standard selection of flowers (that were not previously suitable for sale or purchase, mainly, are single-season flowers that florists later throw away, or stemmed, rootless flowers that have specific shelf life and freshness; for example: roses, chrysanthemums, red dahlias, etc.) from florists or markets; a certain percentage of fruits that rot and are not suitable for sale by farmers or small markets, from whose benefits the potential of the fruit's peel can be used (lemon peel, citrus peel, orange peel, mandarin peel, beet peel, carrot peel, red cabbage, etc.) The purchase of this type of resources would be in a lower monetary percentage than the standard price, so that both parties would be satisfied and compensated.
The same applies to the process of distillation and obtaining essential oils that will be used as binders for pigments. The positive benefit of esoteric oils, apart from the pleasant smell, is that each type of oil has a special health benefit for humans and some for animals as well.
Regarding the aesthetics of the product, first starting is the psychology of design and marketing, appearance and packaging. The aesthetics of the products is based on the visual representation of the products (graphic solution of the logo, packaging design, graphic aesthetic solution for the packaging of each pigment and each essential oil separately). The quality of the experience of use would be long-term, taking into account that the pigment is in a dry state and can be used for painting after separating a certain grammage from the total amount, according to the user's decision or according to a certain recipe. All those who have experience in painting with oil paints, acrylics or tempera know that these paints dry or deteriorate faster because the mixture/emulsion is in a liquid state, or it comes when the mixed components separate due to weather conditions and the paint itself deteriorates , while with powder pigments it is exactly the opposite - powdered, finely processed pigments are persistent, some of them even for centuries! Each package would be followed by instructions for use on a painting surface (canvas, paper, textile, wood). As already mentioned: each pigment, for the time being, has a special type of treatment and recipe. This leads to an educational innovation and exploration of the nature around us, as well as its conservation. This type of information and instructions would be placed in a small booklet packaged in the pigments and essential oils set, as well as online promotion and visibility of the products through a website. Other positive emotions are pleasant and healing benefits of the essential oils and of the pigments themselves. Cultural benefits come through action (painting) and education - learning about the origins of different types of pigments and oils. In parallel, except for this, the user in the brochure will receive information from the chronology of the history of art and the use of natural pigments. Regarding the aesthetics
The accessibility of the project would be by website promotion and social media advertising, presentations at important events in the fields of: culture, art, circular industry and raising environmental awareness. Visibility of the project and the results would be done by presentation to selected organizations, associations, art producers, the artists. The availability of the products would be primarily by social media, but also through concluded agreements with national and international traders of art materials and art equipment. The design of the products would be made to represent a unique and recognizable result with special attention to the aesthetic solution of the entire appearance of the product.
It will refer to the title of the project - Metamorphosis.
In terms of new social models, the products will bear the mission and vision of the European Bauhaus, with a striking and unique aesthetic and an emphasized function for environmental maintenance and social inclusion. The project will adhere to sustainability, circularity and the possibility of quality and affordability for all.
-Citizens working in the field of art and artistic practices will benefit the most. Also, so will the parents whose children tend to develop an artistic character and artistic discipline, with the certainty that their children will not breathe toxins while creating. The same applies to education workers/mentors/professors. -Employees in the floriculture sector, florists or flower decorators who would agree to sell back or donate the flowers that they would no longer have the opportunity to sell, will also benefit; -The same applies to farmers/ fruit and vegetable traders who would agree to sell/give away the fruits that would no longer be of good quality for consumption, but would be in good condition for the production of pigments and essential oils. All this emphasizes a kind of circular thinking that will help everyone who would be involved in the project and contribute to it; -Again, it is worth mentioning the health benefits of the citizens who would use the products, as well as the benefits of the longevity of the product, which is invaluable. This type of pigments and essential oils tend to have a great longevity and persistence in quality if they are properly stored and preserved; -The influence of their involvement on the concept would result in positive. The involvement of art, floriculture, farming, natural medicine and distilling is a challenging combination both for nature and people, offering only a good and clean living environment, less pollution and a higher rate of utilization of natural resources without disturbing the biodiversity of an environment. -Potential for production of other types of paints and admixtures for painting and/or other artistic materials will be developed with an emphasis on the mission of preserving biodiversity (to inspire others); -Potential to develop larger foundations for the application of art therapies with healing properties and educative methods.
The development of the concept for this project is an individual idea and research by the project submitter. The inspiration and support to compete with this kind of concept is driven by the international struggle to find new creative and smart solutions to protect the environment through circularity and sustainable development. Today there are many artists, researchers and enthusiasts working to perfect the treatment and tradition of using natural (and organic) pigments. All this is available and visible on many social media and there are a number of sources of information at the international level. On the other hand, with great hope and ambition, this project seeks to inspire and encourage a change in the approach and treatment of art materials for painting (apart from the aesthetic, visual aspect, it means encouraging the industry for the production of art materials for painting without using toxic components and binders in their composition) at the local, regional, national, European and international level. It is considered to include partners (florists/groceries) from the local/regional level; inclusion of companies for the production of distillers for essential oils at the national level; hiring designers for a graphic solution for the packaging of the products at the European level; sharing, visibility and promotion of products through social media, website marketing and international contacts (at international level).
The conclusion of the concept is a collection of several disciplines. On the side of artistic medicine, it is painting technology and techniques (through a combination of traditional and contemporary application). This includes knowledge about origin of pigments, their geographical target-point and the processing requirements. Also, this includes knowledge about certain types of organic and inorganic binders and their potential or substitute for the health of those who use them: artists, conservators, restorers, people employed in production, buyers/collectors, etc.; in the context of essential oils as binders for pigments and their obtaining with the help of distillers, a great inspiration and reflection of the concept is brought by the discipline and knowledge, as well as the large amount of literature left by and dedicated to Edward Bach and many other similar researchers who devoted their lifetime of helping and treating patients with impaired physical, mental or spiritual health through essential oil treatment. For a successful results from this project, the new ways of sustainable development and the disciplines of the circular economy have been taken into consideration, in order to improve the environmental conditions, not to introduce additional risk components for disrupting the health condition of the population and to inspire other enthusiasts through promotion, marketing and spreading the message for a better future for humanity and the Earth. These factors successfully communicate and complete each other, and also aim to bring the quality and quantity of this kind of products to a smart, creative, circular and renewable level of functioning all over the world. The interaction and utilization of this kind of disciplines can only go upward in the future. It can inspire many new creative values, a renewed connection with nature, an educational and healing treatment and an incentive to be taken more responsibility by competent institutions of this kind.
A healthy planet means a healthy, harmonious and vital humanity in development through intelligence, creativity and productivity. Artistic practices, although nowadays brought to perfection, might take a lot of physical and mental energy. Through the innovative approach of simultaneously creating and recreating an individual, the whole world is slowly metamorphosing into a better place to live. The big companies and trends in painting materials followed by their quality and persistence are not a subject of underestimation - they also help in the development of individual and collective creativity. This project, however, carries an innovative message with the potential to help reduce the use of pigments and binders with toxic content that harms the environment and the user. What is certain here is that apart from the quality of natural pigments, users will feel beneficial, beautiful and soothing effects while working. Numerous art therapy workshops would be the appropriate connection, especially to those who need it the most. Also, the innovation lies in the cooperation with people employed in the sector of: floriculture, agriculture, trade, natural medicine; the project would bring the possibility of closer access to art and artistic engagements for those people who do not have daily access, but have (or do not have) artistic affinities. The concept also offers a production of educational brochures and catalog printed on organic paper with content and information about the fruits and plants from which the oils and pigments are prepared, preferring a partial tracing to the roots of the history of pigments, chronological development of pigments and essential oils, the natural and artistic medicine.
The before mentioned elements of the overall product could be replicated according to successfully tested, analyzed and approved recipes for the use of pigments and essential oils. The finished product can circulate and would be sold anywhere in the world (in a store or by online-store, ordering and delivering to an address). This means further activities, such as: concluding agreements with interested art shops, art markets, traders, workshops for art materials at the national/international level. The following can be replicated: pigment and pigment storage containers, essential oils and essential oil storage containers, educational and promotional brochures, packaging design, product design. The group of users envisaged for the Metamorphosis project: artists, art shops, studios and workshops, institutions for artistic practice and education, art therapy institutions, institutions/organizers of workshops for people with disabilities, museums/galleries that organize workshops for young people and/ or adults, public or private schools, pharmacies that sell natural medicine products and similar user sources.
-Increased interest in the product; -Inclusion, use and promotion of the product at important events of a cultural, social, artistic, medical nature; -Increased demand for products; - Interest and demand for further development and expansion of the palette/ selection of pigments and essential oils by customers and users; -Offers to expand the concept and the connections by other like-minded people; -Increased need for inclusion of a larger number of partners through the project's functionality source; - The need to increase the production on an annual level (or another specific time level of production); -Increased interest in the expansion of this sector, calls for job applications within (or after) the project activities; -Risk of damaging the product (damaging the containers for storing pigments and essential oils) and caution in the initial design of the product, as well as the materials from which it would be made; -Potential demand for production of pigments/essential oils from plants and fruits characterized by another climate/ geographical zone (for example: international demand from customers to be producing further products from a source that is not available at the regional level).
