Storie di personaggi che hanno contribuito all'identità Comune Europea dal Medioevo ad oggi
The Pollicino Family is probably just one of many who responded positively to the various calls of the medieval era, to define the European borders, and thus build a common identity . Probably from the city of Troyes, in the North of France began a compelling story.
The project aims to reconstruct all the various stages, of the crusades, of the events in the cities to create a historical, epic story, useful for the cohesion of the European peoples today.

The project is to reconstruct a story, through the historical references in the archives of the European cities involved, and write a book. This publication will then be used as a cultural work to promote places for tourist purposes. Building a hotel spread within the medieval village of San Pier Niceto (ME) will be among the next steps, involving the various stakeholders in the sector, thus promoting a circular economy of the area with other small interventions. In the developments there is also the possibility of using the book as a script for a television series to be broadcast on the main streaming platforms.
The key to the whole project is to disseminate historical content that will help understand the path of European integration from the Middle Ages to the present. The response of the various European gentlemen to the call of the Crusades is in fact an important piece of our identity, as it has defined our values, borders, politics, land management and various local peculiarities, shared throughout the continent.

Currently I have already written a draft with research done on the web. Now it is necessary to confirm the sources, and to make an exact chronology of the facts, of the displacements, in correlation to the various historical events. I asked for the collaboration of the Department of Medieval History of the University of Messina, which would need funds to support. I wrote a Canvass Business Model of the Urban Redevelopment Project of a Medieval Village in the municipality of San Pier Niceto (ME), and now I aim to find qualified investors and stakeholders to support the initiative to build a Albergo Diffuso, a tourist cooperative, and the recovery of adjacent wooded and agricultural areas, to be triggered as a circular economy. The village in question was born thanks to the Pollicino family in about 1400, and has experienced, like the other villages of Baronia, evolutions resulting from various political phenomena of the time.
At present there is a demographic decline, and abandonment due to a lack of productive and economic activities. Every piece of furniture and real estate is losing value, and therefore memory. I will also try to spread the future book to Investors in the audiovisual sector, with the aim of producing a television series.
The writing of the book is therefore the basis of the cultural initiative, significant to recover the historical identity of people around Europe who have built developments.
The cultural benefits of this initiative are many.
Recovery of Historical Identity: knowing who we are, where we come from, what was our path of integration are the basic elements for our culture, and the integration between peoples.
Cultural Benefits: the response to the Pope’s call to defend Christian values was an important political motive in the Middle Ages. From there our common values were born. The opportunities that arose, the power struggles, the successions, the intrigues, determined an evolution. But who would have thought that a Norman would establish his greatest splendor on an island in the Mediterranean Sea?
Positive emotions: they come from the passion, from the love for the exploration and the conquest of common identities on which the values of feudalism were founded. A Scandinavian administration, established in Sicily and evolved into a democracy. In these deeds there is a key to understanding, who we are, and how we evolved. We are more similar than you can imagine!
Among the goals then those to talk to people about these various steps, and the recovery of true historical facts.
Reconstructing the various stages of this family means recounting the deeds of men who contributed to the development of the various local administrations. From city states, to municipalities, from Baronies to Empires. There is a common interpretation key in all these developments: Inclusion.
Why would a foreigner from the North of France be accepted into the Municipality of Genoa, or as Administrator of Sicily?
Merits emerge, service to the crown, civil valor, the defense of our values.
With this work we aim to recover these values, questioned by the various sovereignisms and imperial raids that today represent a serious danger for European culture.
Knowing the origins is the best way to strengthen the roots of identity.
Initially the work will be published, advertised, written on paper and digitally. It will be accessible for a fee.
Then, according to the developments, we will try to start the next steps. Project Audiovisual with access via streaming platforms.
Realization of museums and hotel, accessible through tourist use.
At the moment, historical research was born from personal initiative. Subsequently requests for participation will be sent to the various universities of the cities involved, in order to create circuits, a memory path, open and usable in practice.
The added value of this initiative is the collection of various historical facts useful to build a larger lost identity.
The reason why a village was first reclaimed, and after built, is to be attributed in the political interest of the various parties involved at the time of the events.
Rediscovering these values will tell of us. Thus historical research, design, broad vision, political vision, social evolution, cultural aspects and economic development are much of the fields of knowledge applied in this project. Everything is to be implemented, assigning to every aspect a specialized interlocutor. My role is therefore that of the promoter, of the control room.
The innovation lies in the fact that, from historical research, identity, cultural contents develop suitable for the recovery of cohesion and the possibility of living in common spaces. Integration is this, discover the various historical passages that have created elements of common identity.
Thanks to this project, then, you can recover depressed, disadvantaged and abandoned areas of southern Italy, characterizing them and positioning them on the global tourist market, as eblema of our European identity.
This procedure would be a protocol for the recovery of other medieval villages in the province of Messina, to be used for global tourism.
For example, in the town of Roccavaldina there is one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe, with artifacts dating back to medieval times, alchemists who prepared precious medicines from herbs. This cultural aspect is particularly significant, as are the practices of ancient traditional Chinese medicine. Yet all is lost, no one knows these places, except for some local inhabitants interested.
This replication process would ensure local development at the moment indefinite, thus increasing economic growth from the tourism sector.
On the basis of the historical, cultural document, recover the places and activities involved through the various stakeholders and industry operators, creating continental economic connections, open globally.
The process of globalization also passes through the culture and historical identity of the various places and inhabitants. Developing the local allows you to tell your story globally.
I have already written a draft of the work, the result of numerous web searches. I’m trying to build an article on Wikipedia. I need resources to get the job done, then move on to the next steps.
Sustainability also means recovering, repairing what has become old over time.
A building can be demolished and rebuilt. But you can also redevelop and fortify.
The same applies to land, crops, biofuel projects and everything possible in a circular economy.
