The Marille is to open its doors as a state-recognized all-day school in Berlin at the start of the 2023/24 school year. It is a model school for sustainable education. The school will initially offer space for 30 first-graders and will be expanded into an inclusive community school with 13 years of learning.

    Hugging the Hymettus mountain with participatory composting activities

    In Europe the 35% of household waste consists of food waste. Led by COMPOSTER with a number of collaborators & HugeHug aims to eliminate food waste, transforming it to high quality compost by activating a transmunicipal citizens-driven circular process from schools to municipalties. To complete the loop, the compost is used to provide a nature-based solution enriching the degraded soil of Hymettus Mountain area where 11 cities meet for restoring the beautiful ecosystem of the mountain forest.

Through nature based learning and eating at the same table over the course of five workshops during one year, the community builds a sense of belonging to Leipzig and to each other through the food they eat, grown in their surrounding environment.

The goal is to restore, in a sustainable way, the freedom of movement in art cities hampered by countless architectural barriers. Thanks to the scalability of the project, environmental pollution could be reduced globally. The social impact is given by the collaboration of citizens, institutions, businesses and users.

    Alusta research pavilion explores nature-culture relations and offers a place for encounters between humans and non-human animals in urban space. The pavilion functions as a platform for environmental discourse, both on the level of its form and materiality, and the different activities which take place there. It comprises a pollinator friendly meadow and structures made with clay in different forms. Alusta was realized by a multidisciplinary educational group led by Suomi/Koivisto architects.
