Cēsis Pluriversity is an education research and design project that operates as a school without an address, and is aimed at turning a whole medieval town of Cēsis into the 21st century urban campus and learning environment by rearticulating given urban metabolsim and exploring how knowledge can circulate in already established spatial structures. In doing so it brings together geography, design and philosophy in order to explore new materialism based relational education methods and practces.

Klimaatspeelplaats - A dream of a school ground

The idea to “soften” Sint-Paulus’ concrete playground came from pupils and teachers at the primary school in Kortrijk (Belgium). With parents, contractors, designers, and support from the city, provincial government and Erasmus+, they created a completely different environment. Now the playground has trees, shrubs and a vegetable garden, chickens, bees and a system to collect and reuse rainwater. As well as improving air quality and biodiversity, this connection to nature has made school a lot more fun.

Summer Energy Poverty Agents

SEPAS service learning project is aimed at raising awareness of the problem of summer energy poverty in southern European countries and reducing heat exposure of the vulnerable population. In the first year of the project, 60 architecture students from the Technical University of Madrid carried out more than 40 workshops. 300 households have participated in these activities on heat and energy culture, energy bills optimization, and outdoor interventions to create climate shelters.

Interested in seeing how a coral reef might look in textile ? Young children involved in the Child Ambassador project have been working with textile artists to create corals from lace and other fabrics. By discovering corals and building their own, children have been connecting with nature through their own imaginations, and learned the consequences of human actions in the ocean. By combining creativity and collective work it encourages them to feel they can play a role in environment state.
