    InDustrial Ecosystem fostered by ALgae solutions

    The IDEAL project converted a conventional chemical industry site into a vibrant industrial ecosystem, through the retrofitting of abandoned lands into a microalgae production and biorefinery unit. The project implemented the circular economy concepts and enabled local synergies between the old and the new industries, including effluents recycling, benefiting the local environment and the communities in the long-term. The industrial symbiosis led to the creation of jobs and sustainable growth.

In this project a young person cook with an older person, promoting generational exchange. This project is about culture, youth, learning, promote volunteering, sharing and being ecologicaly awarned. The resoult of the project are, 12 videos, one per each month of the year (you can find them on Youtube with more than 10.000 views), and a recipes book.

It embodies a Europe formed by the interweaving of ties, relations between nations, flows of people and goods, and information exchange networks.

    Located in Sarfannguit, a cultural landscape in West Greenland and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2018, the Fjeld pavilion by Konstantin Ikonomidis is designed to celebrate and promote the Inuit intangible cultural heritage and traditional knowledge of the environment. Characterized by the two fjords that meet on Sarfannguit’s eastern tip on the hills, the pavilion’s location has been carefully chosen by the local community, site manager Paninnguaq Fleischer-Lyberth and architect.

Historically, rivers are not only a main source and center of life, but carriers of meaning for human interaction. This project will bring the rivers and their use in the focus, and involve a local society in creating platforms and interventions in the settlements of both countries.
