    Germinale: a greenhouse to cultivate new generations

    'Germinale' is an urban regeneration project for the underserved neighbourhood Le Piagge in the outskirt of Florence. Inspired by the famous Emile Zola novel dedicated to the redemption of the poorest , the new building is a former vandalised greenhouse, self-rebuilt and transformed into a house for the arts. It is a space for the new generations who can't find a "home" in the city and a way of escaping marginality expanding the access to culture and beauty where you wouldn't expect to find.

    Bar do Porto is a family run project based in the small fishing village Corrubedo in Galicia, North West Spain. In a community where bars and restaurants are an important part of the daily lives of the locals, we decided to reopen and reimagine a a neighbourhood bar that had been closed for over 25 years. Setting an example for other rural ventures, we run the bar supporting local produce and suppliers, giving job opportunities to young locals, and encouraging a mix of urban and rural clients.

This is an animal endemic to the islands of Corsica and Sardinia that almost disappeared during the late ’60s, but which has been saved thanks to a program of breeding begun in the 1980s.

Research has shown a correlation between a city’s gender bias in street names and cultural factors, like gender equality in that city. Street names are not neutral, and it is time to talk about them so that all citizens feel included and represented by the values that cities celebrate.
